Comedy Strip Live – Margaritas For The Table

October 8, 2012 · Leave a Comment

My sister Marianne won 4 tickets to the Comedy Strip Live in NYC during the summer.  The summer is always busy for everyone, vacations, BBQs’, days at the beach and lots of weddings and showers.  We finally agreed on last Saturday, met for dinner and then drove to 82 Street and Second Ave to enjoy the show.  There was a minimum 2 drink policy and this is what we ordered, It was so refeshing and went perfect with the chili cheese nacho plate we shared.

Patron Margarita

2 Oz Patron Tequila

1 Oz Orange liqueur (always prefer cointreau, but a simple triple sec is good enough)

Juice of 1 lime or lemon (we always prefer limes!) – extra slices for garnish

Salt or no salt around glass rim- up to you

8 Ice cubes or crushed ice

Friends, family, sharing, laughing and sometimes crying.  Truly it’s what life is all about.

Mint Julep Sticks

July 30, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Here is a fun and easy recipe for cool fresh flavor treats for kids and adults:

Mint Julep Sticks

In a sauce pan combine 1 1/3 cups sugar with 2 1/2 cups cold water.  Heat stirring constantly, until the sugar melts.  Bring to a boil for 1-2 minutes, remove from the heat and stir in 4 Tbsp. finely chopped mint leaves.  Set aside to cool.  Strain and pour mixture into ice-pop molds (you can use silicone mini-muffin pan or small paper cups).  Insert an ice-pop stick into each and freeze for 3-4 hours or until solid.

For grown up treat add 1 Tbsp bourbon to the mixture before pouring into the ice-pop molds. Cheers!

Fill large pitcher with ice and cut up fruit and berries. Pour in bottle of wine. Add tequila and peach purée. Add orange/pineapple juice.,  Garnish with orange slice and serve.

Lychee-Mint Spritzers – Derby Ready

April 27, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Every year I  watch the Kentucky Derby on tv. I will watch the show leading up to the race , enjoy looking at the surroundings, the fashion and the jockeys and  horses.   Each one so beautiful in their own right – good clean fun in the comfort of my living room.  This year while noshing on some goodies,  I will be trying a new cocktail drink  , something light , a spritzer.

Lychee-Mint Spritzer – serves 2

Muddle 8 mint leaves with 2 teaspoons sugar in a cocktail shaker. Add 4 canned lychees, 1/4 cup syrup from the can, 3 ounces vodka and a squeeze of lime juice; shake with ice. Strain into 2 ice-filled glasses; top with seltzer. Repeat to make more drinks. Garnish with mint and lime.
