Marlene wanted to spend the day at Long Beach. Put on your sneakers, she said. Lucky for us the day was a spectacular one for a stroll on the boardwalk. Even though it is Fall we left our jackets in the car and headed for the beach. Pacific Blvd is a most beautiful boardwalk, it has been wonderfully reconstructed after Hurricane Sandy, and today there were lots of people enjoying the glorious day.
We walked for about 2 hours and then we got hungry. Marlene has been telling us about this pastrami sandwich she always enjoys at place Lido Kosher Deli, so that is where we went for a late lunch. We started out with the cole slaw, pickles and knishes. Then came the star of the afternoon that pastrami sandwich. Would you look at that thing!! We each ended up taking half for tomorrow and it was even better the next day. So good.
