The Prince and the Princess

Ah, Merry Old England.

Once again they’ve captured the hearts and minds of the world. Not as a military might, but as a dream come true for any girl, with another royal wedding.  I believe,  at one time or another, most of us  fantasized meeting a prince just like in a story book.   I certainly did.  Wasn’t the story of Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and more told based on this presumption?  Even today our little girls are captured by the whole princess dream.   As the old saying goes,  “The more things change the more they stay the same.”  Time has not diluted this fantasy.  I know my granddaughter cannot get enough of the princess toys and stories.

Cinderella Blue Dress

Remember how the  handsome prince always falls in love with the less than royal girl.  The prince always rides in, on a white horse of course,  and sweeps the girl off her feet, in more ways then one, and they live ‘Happily Ever After”.     What a wonderful ending.  Really?

The last real  prince and princess story that happened in my life time was  prince Charles, who married Diana, a nobody who became a princess overnight.

Oh, the magic of it all.  Magic, does this ring Walt Disney?   I remember watching the event live on TV.  A reality show before it’s time.  I was married myself  when this royal wedding happened, in 1981.  What sticks in my memory bank was her 25- foot long train, which flowed behind her so delicately.  Diana was my first real princess story.
Kings, Queens, royalty from all over the world attended this  extravaganza.  The press coverage,  the invite list.  Who got snobbed. Who got luckily invited

A true Cinderella coach.Imagine, yes we can only imagine.

This  wedding was real.  A true prince marrying a girl and she would become his princess.

Oh, how happy they will be, ever after.      Well, reality sucks.  The prince and the princess never achieved happy.

Now once again the world awaits, with child like delight, to see a prince marry a girl who will become his  princess.

How will this story end?  No one can say.

But if the new prince and princess hold on to their dreams and not allow reality to enter them, they might just live “Happily Ever After”
