Plastic Surgery

As a baby boomer getting older is not acceptable.  I remember always thinking that being 40 was ancient  and I would never want to live to be that ancient.

Let me see, I was around 16 when I made that statement.  Now, I am, well let’s just say, way over 16.

Age creeps up on you.  Little by little.  One day I looked in the mirror and started to see this older person looking back at me.  OMG! Is that me?

My mind lies to me, never tells me the truth. Only my friends are aging, it tells me, not you.   But, the looking glass mirror never lies, it reflects exactly what it sees,  me getting older and it displays all the wrinkles  to prove it.  MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL..SHUT UP!

So, as I examine my face in the mirror I begin to consider plastic surgery.  Just a tiny lift of  around the eyes, a little pull along the chin, oh, let’s not forget the neck, now there is an age giveaway for sure.

Plastic surgery is not a big deal anymore, right, today it’s a common phenomena. Everyone seems to be doing it. You know just like going to the dentist, got wrinkles, get botox, got sagging eyes, get that skin lifted away.  Of course, the more money you have the more surgery you can pay for.  Money can get you a reconstructed face adding 20 or more years to your look.

I do have to ask myself, “Is plastic surgery a really good idea?”  Well ,I say it depends on what and how far you go .  We all know the so called ‘stars’  always look so perfect (with the help of nips and tucks) But, we never hear , or see, the nips and tucks that became tucks and nips.  So sometimes the fix we think we need, from plastic surgery, ends up to be a plastic surgery nightmare.

Here  are a few gone wrong plastic surgeries…

Remember, Jennifer Grey? You know the Dirty Dancing star.

Well she had a nose job and Jennifer admits that the surgery did change her life.  “I went in the operating room a celebrity — and came out anonymous. It was like being in a witness protection program or being invisible.”  said Jennifer.  Do you see what I see?  Jennifer went from this beautiful one of a kind look to a beautiful well, how many people look like her now?

Jocelyn Wildenstein, a wealthy socialite…Glad I don’t have that kind of money.

now if this is not a poster child for plastic surgery gone wrong, I don’t know what is.  How sad.  Her nips and tucks just got out of control.  You think?

Tori SpellingWhat’s wrong with this picture?  So young and so, well I really don’t want to be mean.

Donatella Versace

Donatella Versace.

Now did she really look  so bad?  What in heavens name was she thinking….

Jackie Stallone

Jackie Stallone.

How does she look at herself everyday, and not say,” Is that really me?”

This picture needs no introduction….Michael at his plastic surgery worst.

Michael Jackson.

As time marched on I stopped scrutinizing my face in the mirror and stopped counting the wrinkles that I see.  For now I realize that there is no easy answer to aging, and reversing the aging process can be worse than giving in to father time.

Yes,getting old is a drag. I still don’t want to age, but now I guess I have matured enough to  just want to age gracefully.

It just makes no sense to have a face that looks 20 when I am 60, or worse have a face that I  may not recognize.
