Wearing Too Much Makeup?

Wearing Too Much Makeup

Are you wearing too much Makeup?  Makeup can make you look older when you over do it.

Makeup can look great when using proper eyeshadow, lipstick, and mascara.

The following is recommended for your skin to give it a finished polish look with or without makeup.

Exfoliate – Even the best cosmetics in the world will look like dirt if it’s applied on top of skin that is dry, dull, or flaky. Regular sloughing, whether with chemicals (like glycolic acid home peels or nightly application of retinoids) or a gentle, grainy scrub, will make skin more naturally radiant–and allow you to wear less makeup. ( I exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week.  This takes off dead skin that lays on top and regualr washing does not take off)

Prime and Moisturizing – Some makeup artists believe it’s heresy to apply foundation directly to bare skin. They say makeup primer creates a remarkably smooth surface. If you don’t want to add an extra step and a new product, just massage moisturizer onto clean skin. ( I don’t use a primer, though I have heard it is highly recommended.  I do use moisturizer before applying any makeup.  I guess I have been doing the right thing)

Finish with powder – A light dusting of powder will tone it down. Don’t use too much or it will appear like cake. Only use small bits in areas needed to dim the shine. ( I started to use powder the last few years, I love the finish it gives.)

The famous rule about getting ready, then removing one accessory before you leave the house,( I follow this rule it really works)  applies just as well to makeup. After you’ve done your face, turn away from the mirror; then quickly turn back. You might be surprised to see that your blush suddenly looks too bright, or the shimmer on your eyes is more disco than dazzling. (Yes, take a quick second look at yourself  before leaving the house.  You will catch what you may have overdone or under done, it works both ways.)

Makeup can truly make a  difference when applied well.
