You’re probably thinking, boy, does she need a vacation. I must admit it has been a mild and wonderful winter so far. I am not complaining because I pull the short straw when it comes to digging the snow away from the house. So, just in case a snow storm blows into town during the night, hey it’s winter, you never know. Here are some smart tips to dig out from under winter weather without added aches:
Warm Up – Walk around inside for a few minutes, and bundle up before you head outside.
Size The Shovel – Use a lightweight shovel made of plastic, with a D-shaped handle grip to reduce twisting. A shovel with a bent shaft, like the Erapro “allows you to keep your back straighter.
Push It – Push snow into mounds rather than lifting. Tackle top snow first and work down, layer by layer.
De-Ice It – Rock salt, available at hardware stores, makes it easier to remove snow and ice from driveways and walkways.
Blow It Away – a lightweight blower, like the electric 12 lb Snow Joe 322P Snow Thrower is easier to push and maneuver than bigger blowers, and could be used to clean off steps.
Hope you are enjoying a wonderful mild winter where you are and that this reading was a complete waste of time.
