I had the best Mother’s Day and birthday present from my daughter this year. She took me to see the Broadway show, Wicked. What a show it was! We trained into the city, on a Thursday evening, right after work. 🙁
I literally came home from work, and the next thing I know I am sitting on a train choo -choo-ing into Manhattan, with my lovely daughter. 🙂
I really had no idea what Wicked was about. All I knew was the show told the story of how the wicked witch, from The Wizard of Oz, became the wicked witch. I truly ended up loving the story line, and of course the singing and dancing. I also ended up loving the wicked witch herself. Who really was not …Oh, I don’t want to give the story away, so I will type no more about WICKED!
Now going into Manhattan is never really boring. See you get a show no matter where you go in NYC.
When we arrived in the NYC, we had to grab something to eat. As we walked down Broadway we see a diner called, Stardust. I said, ” Look a diner, this place looks good and no line to get in.” Wow! Were we surprised when the waiters and waitresses began to belt out Broadway songs , strutting along the edge of the booth we were in, just entertaining the diner dinner crowd…then just like nothing happened, the waitress or waiter would came by your table and ask , “Can I take your order?” Sooo much fun, and different…only in Manhattan.
We shared a chicken sandwich, it was so good that I regretted not getting one for myself…I won’t tell you the dessert we ordered. OK, it was called the Chubby Checker…Oreo cookies, with ice cream, covered with whipped cream and a cherry on top. No, I did not take a picture of our dessert cause it was to sinfully, deliriously, delicious… you should have seen my daughter and I fighting to get the last crumbs of them cookies.
As we walked back to catch the scheduled train home, it was interesting to see all the crazy things that NYC had to offer. We ran into a giant space ship. A Star Trek Lego space ship, to be exact. All you Trekkie’s should run on down and get a glimpse of this amazing ship.
I tell you getting through the crowd, with that space ship in the middle of the street, was a true Battlestar Galactica event.
I tell you Manhattan is full of tourist, and tourist just love to stop and look at the sites of the city…Oh, I just remembered, I am now a tourist. The city is not the city I grew up in, and my eyes just cannot capture all that Manhattan has to offer, so stopping to take pictures qualify’s me as a tourist.
Yes, Manhattan does have a lot to offer. And you just cannot capture it all. I mean where can you run into Batman, and Captain America just hanging around shooting the breeze.
I could not believe that Christian was not with us to see his hero, along with another hero.
All of this enjoyment in one night. Yes, my daughter gave me a wonderful present, but she did not realize that she also gave me more than I could have imagined. A night out with my favorite daughter, (she is my only daughter) and the enjoyment of all the hustle and bustle of NYC.
That is “WICKED!”
