My mom celebrated her 84th birthday this year. We asked her if she wanted to go out to eat. “No, I want everyone to come here and we order”. So that is what we did. Last Sunday, my daughter Vera and her family (husband Bill, Natalie, Liam and Caleb) came and so did my sister Marianne and her daughter Sandra.
We ordered the Greek food from our favorite place, Taverna Kyclades. They do not take reservations, so when we go there, it is always a wait, at least 45 minutes. The plan was to call and order, my daughter and her husband then went and picked it all up.
We ate cold antipasto dips with olive bread, fried cheese, grilled shrimp, pork and chicken kebabs, fried whiting, Greek salad, lemon potatoes and beets. Everyone was happy because there was something for everyone.
I got to see my darlings, they are growing so fast.
It was a toss up on the cake. I first thought about a chocolate mousse cake and then last weekend was so beautiful, that I decided on a ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins . Boom! I just loved the three ice cream cones on top. Natalie, Liam and Sandra each had a cone.
Caleb got to eat some of the Oreo ice cream chocolate cake. He had a long day playing and crawling around. Finally, he had enough, right after this photo he fell asleep 🙂
Every birthday is a blessing. Don’t take them for granted. Celebrate every birthday with a grateful heart.
This is a video my daughter took of the day.
