Spring Into Good Eating

Now that spring has sprung and summer time is just around the bend , I thought, it was time to put away my winter blues food.

Spring is also the time to step up my exercise routine so I can get into the clothes of  summer.  However, if I can eat foods that supercharge my metabolism that would mean I don’t have to work out extra hard.

Here are some of the foods that I will begin to eat and drink to jump start my metabolism, which kinda gets clogged up as we climb the ladder of age.

Matcha

Matcha is another name for green tea.  Had no clue that green tea goes by another name.  Matcha (green tea)  is packed with caffeine, which speeds up your heart rate and thus your metabolism, but it also has norepinephrine-stimulating EGCG, a nutrient that helps boost your metabolic rate.

Gotcha Matcha!

Almond Butter

Almond Butter sounds so delish!  This  nutty spread is a low-glycemic food, which means it will help keep your blood sugar level stable. That’s crucial because regular blood sugar spikes and drops slow down your metabolism.

As I age my blood sugar is spiking, so on my next shopping run Almond Butter will be carted home.

Pistachios

This is a nut that can take a long time to eat.  So I guess the slower we eat the better it is for our metabolism.  So it is recommended that we eat small meals and snacks, like pistachios,  throughout the day which will allow our bodies to process them.

Coconut Water
Just recently tried this coconut water and truly enjoyed drinking it.  It was great to find out that coconut water is a  super-hydrator  and keeps you from getting dehydrated, which disrupts your metabolism.  Go Metabolism!
Cottage Cheese
Always liked cottage cheese but stopped eating it for some, I forgot, reason.  Now I knew that cottage cheese was packed with protein, but did not know it took longer to digest than carbs or fiber. And when your body has to work harder to break down a food, it burns more calories, supercharging your metabolism.
So this is my Supercharge Spring Food List.  Like I said, ‘Bye, bye, winter foods” it is time to Supercharge it.
