One morning I was looking for a pair of earrings to wear to work. When I came across my old charm bracelet. The charm bracelet that my mom and dad bought for me. A charm bracelet was the bracelet to wear when I was young…I loved my charm bracelet and wore it for many years. The bracelet’s charms represented simple events in my life. Growing up with these charms clanking off the bracelet was so cool! Of course I lost a few charms along the way.
This was my birthday charm that my parents gave me. Actually, I think the bracelet came with the birthday charm. I cannot remember which birthday. The hanging heart, well another memory block. Maybe the heart was for the love this bracelet represented. Corny, huh!
Faith, Hope and Charity charms were one of my favorites…Loved them. Then there was my MalteseCross. Charm, like a good Maltese girl I had to have the Maltese Cross charm.
My Christmas charm, I would guess , I got as a Christmas gift…LOL! My Confirmation charm was given to me as a Confirmation gift. Of course.
A charm for each event in my life. Honestly I did not appreciate the symbols of these charms at the time, just thought it fashionable to wear, it was only a piece of jewelry. But now? Now As I look at this charm bracelet 40 years later I understand how special each charm is. I realized these clanking charms represent a piece of my simple past.
Happy that I have rediscovered the charm bracelet. I will begin to wear it once again, even though some of the charms have been lost thru the years, I still think the bracelet is charming.
