My husband and I celebrated our 44th anniversary on Friday, the 13th of May.
We had planned a trip to New Hope, Pennsylvania. We had never been to New Hope and when I saw this Living Social deal for a two night stay at The Center Bridge Inn, in New Hope, I said,”Lets go!” Now every year we plan a trip with our very good friends Joanne and Joe. We invited them to join us. Now Joanne and Joe happened to be very familiar with the town of New Hope, they were frequent visitors to this Pennsylvanian town. This was great because they became our tour guides.
When our friends found out it that it was our anniversary they quickly went out and bought a bottle of Brut Prestige Champagne. We POPPED the cork, toasted, and drank. The champagne Joe picked was excellent.
For our dining pleasure we had dinner at the Tavern, located right in the Center Bridge Inn. For our special night we ordered a dozen oysters as an appetizer delight. The rest of our dinner was super good. We all were surprised that the food at the Inn was top notch.
The next morning my husband and I took a walk over the Center Bridge, bridge. It was a foggy morning. The fog was so thick you couldn’t see very far but we were walking over the bridge, and didn’t need to worry.
As we walked, over the bridge, I couldn’t help humming, Ode To Billie Joe Tallatchie bridge song.
In spite of the foggy morning Saturday did turn out to be a sunny day. We decided to spend time touring Pearl S. Buck’s Estate.
All I knew about Pearl S. Buck was she wrote the book , The Good Earth. I never read any of her books. The Good Earth was well known, everyone I knew read it for school. I don’t know why I never read the book but now I know that it will be my next read.
Had to take a picture of Pearl’s grave.
After the estate tour we hit the town of New Hope. Did a lot of shopping in New Hope. Loved all the small shops. It’s at these little town shops that I love to do my shopping. Of course after a hard morning of touring and shopping we found a tavern to stop in to have a beer or two. A few beers and a few laughs is always the best medicine for the guys.
Celebrating our 44th anniversary in New Hope, Pa. was fun, and a learning experience. Thanks Joe and Joanne you made our 44th anniversary an anniversary to be remembered.
