Mouse and the Flood by Marion Heffernan Illustrator Amy Begley

“Mouse and the Flood” details Little Mouse’s adventures during his attempt to find his way back home after a storm swept him along after the rain. As he travels down the farm road in his makeshift boat, Little Mouse makes unlikely encounters with other animals who were undergoing the storm as well. The story is set-in real-life situations to reflect events that children may have experienced or heard about to help stimulate them into asking questions.

Readers of all ages will embark on this unpredictable journey, as well as be reminded to look at the brighter side of things when misfortunes come their way. Children will also benefit from the rhyming nature of the book as phonemic awareness helps children learn the rhythm of words, develop their skills in literacy, communication, cognitive and more!
