My daughter called me and asked if I could stay with the kids for a few nights. No problem. I packed a bag and after work I hopped on the LIRR to her home.  My daughter and her husband wanted to get away for a night so off they went to Atlantic City.  These kids got so many toys for Christmas, I just got a kick that they wanted to play with boxes all day long.

New Years’ Eve the older children went with their parents to a neighborhood party leaving me and Caleb to ring in the New Year together. For the special event we shared a tiramisu just the two of us.

A tradition for New Years’ Day is celebrating the day with Merci and her family. My daughter and her husband Bill  host  this special day.

My mom, niece and my sister were the first to arrive.

Love these ladies, my daughter Vera, niece Sandra, Mercis’ daughter Erica and her niece Dana and her darling daughter Emma being held my by granddaughter Natalie. Sweethearts!!

Nothing fills a home like children.  The big kid is Andrew,  Mercis’ nephew. I am including my niece Sandra and her guy Robby in the children section too. Love them all. I am ashamed that the only photo I got of Merci husband Bill is the back of his head. Sorry Billy.

and our sisters Marlene and Marianne.

Then we had some laughs playing the game Cards Against Humanity. Warning: it is a little frisky, risky for 18 years of age and older.

Did You Know

Happy New Year #2016

It’s here 2016!

It’s time for a resolution.  I have decided that my resolution is not to give up something but to do something.  But then I ask myself will I really keep doing what I said I would do?  Or will I just not do the something I resolved to do.  I kinda know what will happen,…here’s how I think it will go.

First few days of the new year I will do what I set out to do.  As the second week approaches I will begin to do less of what I wanted to do.  Then comes the end of January and I really begin not do what I need to do.  Till little by little the doing resolution becomes more like a not doing resolution.

So now I have resolved not to have a resolution.

This sets me free I can just be me.

Welcome 2016!

Happy New Year!

#HoverBoards It’s Hot!

Hover boards were the hottest thing this Christmas.  And when I say hot I mean like catch fire hot! We had ordered two for the grand kids and then we began to hear the not so good news about these must have hover boards…

I wanted to take them back but my daughter-in-law  would not hear of it.  “It’s what the kids want,” that ended that conversation.  1

As soon as they opened the gift they immediately began to ride this hover boards…all around my home.  Have to say the kids took to it pretty quickly.  030812_pam_dawber_now_fullChristian’s was red and Sophie’s was white…same item different color.  Of course that did not solve any problem.  Christian ended up wanting the white one not the red one.  Oy vey !  No matter what they always want what the other one has…can’t win.  10204_2

But all in all Christian settled with red and just kept hovering around the kitchen.  I was not to pleased with this activity but heck it was Christmas and they were really enjoying these toys.  IMG_3706

Now we had big kids riding the boards.  Sorry, Erica,Santa did not get you a hover board this Christmas.   The Hover Board was a success.  They did not catch fire.

So Grandma and Grandpa made our grand kids hover happy.

The Adventures of Bibole, Rivol and Michelle – Kidnapped, Part One #bookworm

My grandchildren always ask me to read to them when they were little. Now that they are grow, they always want to read to me. Natalies’ latest book is The Adventures of Bibole, Rivol and Michelle by Brian Fujlikawa.

This story about a family of mice takes us to another world where we all learn valuable lessons about sharing, working together with honesty, things we can all approach life with everyday. I just love hearing her read out loud to me and sometimes stop to look to see if I am getting it 🙂

This time is always my favorite time when I am with my grandchildren.

This series helps children learn to share, work together, bring honesty to their daily lives and much more through friendly animal characters.
