I had the most amazing evening last week meeting QVC’s Resident Foodie David Venable. Let me just say David is so adorable and one very groovy guy. From the moment we met he was  generous, thoughtful and so down to earth, did I mention adorable, making all  the dinner guests feel welcome like we were family and friends.  The topic of the evening was “comfort foods”, my favorite topic ever!

The evening started with two of my favorite starters. Spinach-Feta Cups (page 11), Mini Crab Cakes with Old Bay Mayonnaise (page 25)

Apple Gorgonzola, Red Onion and Candied Walnut Salasd. Does Not Need Bacon 🙂 with Pomegranate Vinaigrette (page 24)

We then watched how to prepare the best Beef Pot Pie I have ever had. I know my grandchildren will love this one.

We started with Halibut in Parchment Pouches. Perfection! (page 208)

Next came the Beef Pot Pie (page 187) served with Garlic Mashed Cauliflower and Potatoes (page 226) and Bacon Wrapped Asparagus Bundles (page 156)\

How do you end a perfect evening? With a cupcake of course!!. David sent us home with dessert, Black Bottom Cupcakes (page 269) and a copy of “Back Around The Table”. This sweetheart knows comfort.

I babysat for my grandchildren this weekend and I wanted to keep them busy and off their iPads for a while. Mission was accomplished with this easy and fun project was inspired by Pinterest Halloween Centerpieces

All you need is a glass jar , candy corn, ghost Peeps and autumn flowers – optional.

Fill the glass jar with candy corn and then line the inside with the ghost Peeps and fill in with rest of candy corn. Place flowers in the middle of the glass jar.  Have fun and keep a eye out for the candy corn eater.

Things can get sticky so don’t forget to wash your hands 🙂 Happy Halloween!!

I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends – Especially In Malta!

Vacationing with a group of friends is the best way to vacation…but vacation with a group of friends, to the land of my birth, was certainly a special vacation.

We bused it to Valletta, capital city of Malta, to see what we could see.

We roamed the island a party of 8!

It was a trip of a life time.  A trip that most likely could never be duplicated.

Autumn is here and I am ready with this lovely CAbi Allure Blouse in the great port color!!  I am wearing it over my jeans, but this could easily be tucked in for a casual look. The jeans I am wearing are C Wonder  Grey Skinny Zipper at the Ankle. So comfortable and easy to wear day or night.
