#GettingGorgeous 2015

Another year has passed and once again Liz and I were pleased to attend the most anticipated blogger event, Audrey and Vera’s, Getting Gorgeous.

I took a PTO day from work  and drove into Astoria, were I meet Liz.

The weather forecast for the day  was not a very good one.  It was to be a hot, humid and rainy day.  I knew that when we got to Manhattan it would be more hot, more humid,  and more rainy.  IMG_2015We always walk from Liz’s home to the train station.  The walk from her house to the train is at least a 15-20 minutes, now this depends on how fast you walk, and since we weren’t in a big hurry and it was not raining, we just took a strolling pace.  Anyway, it was way to hot and humid to get the heart  pumping when we did not need to do so.

IMG_2016    When we arrived at the station we began to climb up the stairs to the train platform.   The air began to get thicker, and  less breathable the higher we climbed.  It was surely a “Hot town summer in the city.”  I surely did feel the back of my neck get ‘Dirty and gritty”… but then the train pulled into the station and we hopped into the air conditioned train. IMG_2020

The train ride from Astoria to Manhattan is around 20 minutes,( Why I drive to Astoria and train it from there).  If I took  public transportation from Long Island it would take me 1 hour and 30 minutes to get into Manhattan.  UGH!

Once we arrived we walked up from beneath the ground to the busy streets of Manhattan and then  walked 5 blocks to  the event.

Love to walk.  Walking and the city it just what you do.

IMG_2023Now this event was not all about pleasure we also went to assist the event planners, Vera and Audrey.  As soon as we got to the event we began organizing all the goody bags that every person, who participated, will go home with.  I never saw so many goody bags.  I was told there were 400 bags.  All holding a  gifts from the sponsors and all participants would go  home with a goody bag and a smile.

IMG_2025  Oh, let me not forget to mention  my daughter, who also came to help Vera and Audrey.  What a surprise!  I had no idea she would be there.  Would have been nice to know she was coming since all three of us could have traveled together.  However, she had already made plans to meet her friend in the city for dinner so  guess we were not invited.

Liz and I always have a good time at  Getting Gorgeous events.  We mingle, we drop our blog cards, pick up some goodies and get to help bring the event to a happy close.

What She Wore Wednesday #LandsEnd

ww75

Summer in the city and I am not complaining. It’s been a long winter and so happy to drop the snow boots. Boom! There is a saying at my job regarding the air conditioning “you can hang meat in here”. Yes, sometimes it gets a little chilly. That’s why I keep my Lands End Merino Long V-Neck cardigan in my drawer. So light, so soft and I can easily wear in under a jacket when summer is over. Did I just say that? Summer, what’s your hurry? Please stay a while.

POP’S Seafood Shack & Grill A Birthday Celebration

My niece Dana celebrated her…well lets just say her birthday as for the number, she is still 16 to me.  The celebration took place at Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill in Island Park.

Can these girls ever be serious!

IMG_1741IMG_1739

I told my daughter not to play around but she had to give me a heart attach by going against the ‘NO JUMPING’ sign.  I hate when they tease me.

As the evening  progressed Dana and my daughter’s friends joined us at Pop’s…

My sister and I just went along with the flow of the crowd…good thing my daughter told me not to wear heels…lots of sand.

The evening sky was so clear, and so blue.

It was getting late and I was getting tired.  Thank heavens by daughter-in-law needed to leave early because my daughter and niece decided to stay and enjoy the rest of the evening.  IMG_1943IMG_1941                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          IMG_1940

So we bid them all,  Au revoir.

And wished Dana a wonderful night…

Then, just like that, the fireworks started!!!
