Mother Day 2015 – Photo Heavy

The morning started cloudy and foggy, then cleared up and became a most beautiful day for Mother’s Day. This year as so many years in the past we celebrated together at Merci’s home. Here is Damian, Merci’s son with his wife Erin and their two children. Love those kids bunches! Sophia just made her First Holy Communion on Saturday. We enjoyed a few hours with them before they left for Erin’s mom home. Our host and hostess for the day were Merci and her husband Billy. The hostess with the mostess.

My niece Sandra gave my sister Marianne some Mother Day treats and surprises. My daughter and her family were not here. They were just getting back from Disney World and I was missing them. So I got busy taking some photos!

What a darling Emma is, running around the yard keeping her mom Dana and grandma Marlene busy. She was the delight of the day! and I just love Marlene’s hat.

Here we are friends, family and sisters. Year after year and it never gets old 🙂 There’s that hat again!

We are all lucky to still have our Moms here with us. That is Merci’s dad Andy in the middle, we insisted that he stay in the  picture. I thank God everyday for the loving people He has placed in my life.

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to say thanks for everything that you have done for me, and all that you are still doing. Happy Mother’s Day.

Apple-Cherry Crepe Purse #Kontos

59k

Here are the easy steps to surprise and delight your mom, grandmother and all the special women in your life!
Apple-Cherry Crepe Purse

Ingredients:
2 Kontos French-Style Traditional Crepes
3 Granny Smith apples, cubed and stewed with a dash of cinnamon
2 cans of cherry pie filling
½ teaspoon of butter
Navel orange peel
¼ cup confectioner’s sugar
Mint leaves for garnish

Method:

  1. Cut the apples into small cubes, stew lightly with a dash of cinnamon.
  2. Drain stewed apples, mix with one can of cherry pie filling.
  3. Warm the mixture in a saucepan or in the microwave.
  4. Open your second can of cherry pie filling and lift out cherries. Set the cherries aside for garnish.
  5. Cut a thin orange peel strip from your navel orange peel – making the strip as long as possible – set aside.
  6. Warm your Kontos French-style crepes in a lightly buttered skillet for one minute each side.
  7. Lay each crepe flat. Arrange apple-cherry filling in center of crepe and bring up edges of crepe to center.
  8. Pick up edges of crepe, twist gently to enclose filling.
  9. Tie the orange peel strip around the crepe to form a purse.
  10. Sprinkle with powdered sugar; garnish with four or five cherries and mint leaves.

Note:  Double or triple the recipe for larger parties. For an extra-special treat, try drizzling with caramel sauce or top with a dollop of whipped cream.

Even the kids can pitch in to make this simple recipe that will delight mom with a touch of French elegance.

Eighty, Who’s Counting?

Eighty was the birthday number we celebrated with Terry this past Sunday.  It’s great how Terry does not let the  number 80 get to her. Only a number she would say.

All her family and friends gathered  to give Terry’s 80th birthday a round of cheers… IMG_1196 IMG_1208

I could not believe how fast the big 80 came, I mean wasn’t it yesterday we had a party for Terry’s 70th birthday?

But age is just a number, like Terry says, and it doesn’t take much to turn back the hands of time and have that little child take over.

And  Denise did just that.

Picking and pulling at this sugary substance, cotton candy,  that was placed right in the middle of our table….IMG_1225Just like a child who was given a special treat, she smacked her fingers with sugary delight…

Watching Denise eat the cotton candy made me realize that Terry is right.  Age is just a number.  It’s all about how  you feel when your the age you are.

Happy Birthday, Terry…in ten years we can celebrate your 90th birthday…but then…who’s counting!IMG_1205

The Swan Club Lunch For Moms

This past Friday  Bobbiann and I took  our mothers out to lunch, at The Swan Club, for Mother’s day.

We had purchased a  Groupon lunch voucher for 4 at The Swan Club.  What a  great deal it was and what a great idea it was.  We both thought this Mother’s Day  we should take our mothers out to lunch somewhere special as a Mother’s Day special treat.

I mean, who does not like to do lunch?  And to do lunch at the Swan Club!  We knew we were going to give them a special time to remember. IMG_1152The Swan Club entry way was cozy.  My mom and Terry were all smiles as we waited for our table.

I had made reservations for 4 people but we ended up having 5 people.  See I always watch my grandson, Christian,  after school on Fridays and I ended up having to bring him with us because my dad, who I assumed with watch Christian for me, ended up having a doctors appointment and did not return in time.  I was a little pissed but we forged on.IMG_1154

Christian was not very happy about being with us for lunch but he forged on too.

IMG_1162

I did get Christian to smile when we walked outside and strolled in The Swan’s Club garden.  How could you not smile, the garden was fabulous.IMG_1177 (1)

Look at this garden.  I want this garden in my backyard….IMG_1182

Christian thought the garden was a free for all. He had plenty of room to run a little wild and never run into any of the beautiful flowers.IMG_1159

Yes, The Swan Club had a garden that would make any day a special day.  So glad we did lunch there.

IMG_1190

Taking a picture with all the flowers as a backdrop and the sun glistening on every flower pedal gave us reason to smile.

Yes, our mothers were  having a  happy afternoon, and were impressed with the surroundings.

We had hit the Mother’s Day lunch jack pot.  We had picked the perfect place to make our mothers feel treated.IMG_0165

It was a grand lunch!

IMG_1163

We all did not expect our lunch date to be more than just lunch.  But our day became a garden of glorious colors.

Thank you Swan Club.   You made our gift to our mother’s a memorable one.

It now will be a special Mother’s Day for them both.

Happy Mothers Day to all mothers.

Have a Swan full day!
