Stuff You Already Know by Gina DeLapa

IMG_0611If you want to read about  stuff you already know this is the book for you.  If you are like me you are probably thinking, or saying, if I know this stuff already why would I want to read about it.  HA!  That’s the best part.

Gina Delapa counts down all the stuff you already know and some you may not know.  As you read about the stuff you already know you will chuckle, be reminded about the simple stuff, and realize how right Gina DeLapa is about the stuff she writes.  The book is easy reading.  I read it in the car on my way to New Jersey and did not want to stop reading about the stuff  I already know, like:

#73 -Make your bed in the morning, small disciplines lead to large ones

#209 – Cut your parents some slack.  They, too, had imperfect parents, as did we all.

#228 – Don’t imagine anyone’s life is easy. It isn’t

Now, if you want to know about the rest of the stuff order Gina’s book Stuff You Already Know. IMG_0613

Oh, if you have college age children get Gina DeLapa’s book, Stuff You Already Know and Every college Student Should.

Chicken Cuban Style

Chicken Cuban Style is a stew. It was a very dear friend who gave me this recipe she gave it to me about 40 years ago.  Long time…I use to make it a lot for my family but then I just stopped making it and forgot that I  had the recipe.   I was amazed when I found the recipe and could not believe that I had stopped making this dish.

So this Sunday it was Chicken Cuban Style Sunday and it was going to be yummy.  I was going to bring back the past.

 And I did!

Here is the ingredients you need.  Please excuse the format but this is exactly how I had it written down.

Put enough oil to cover bottom of pot, place chicken pieces ( I liked to use chicken thighs) in pot, add  potatoes, sliced onions, green pepper cut into long thin strands, 2 pimentos, cut into 4 pieces, about 10 green olives, you know the olives with the pimento stuffed in the center,  a  1/2 cup cooking wine (red), one small can tomatoes sauce and one cup water.  Add bay leaf, teaspoon of salt, pepper, oregano.  Mix and cook over low heat for 1/2 hour,  turn chicken over and cook another 1/2 hour.

We all  enjoyed another blast from the past.

Words To Dream On by Diane Stortz #Book

c392

Words To Dream On  is a lovely book filled  with Bible stories and prayers that can be read anytime of the day. My niece Sandra is reading the story of a mighty man of God Caleb to her cousins, which happens to be the name of their baby brother who is napping right now. The book is filled with beautiful illustrated photos the kids like to look at and study too.

This book is a beautiful way to start a bedtime tradition with a Bible story, prayer, comforting words plus a sleepy time prayer. Reading out loud is a great, loving and everlasting  way to connect with children.
