Family, Time of the Season

Santa and Groovinmoms

Liz and I thought it would be wonderful this year to take our grand kids to have breakfast with Santa, at the Milleridge Inn.

We even invited our mothers to join us, and not only our mothers came but even our sisters.

All in the family.

Here are our little darlings, Sophie, Natalie, Liam and Christian.

Breakfast for them was just a bowl of cereal and some milk.

Any other food on the menu was nixed by them all…and they charged us full price.

After the cereal they went straight for the muffins.

Good thing we really brought them to see Santa and the food was secondary…Milleridge Inn really makes out on this deal.
Mrs. Claus made her appearance and gave them cookies and a hug.  Once the kids saw Mrs. Claus they knew that seeing Santa was just around the corner…for that is exactly were Santa was, just around the corner( in the next room).

We just did not want to wait on the long line of Santa greeters, so we waited for the line of people to shorten before we took the kids to see Santa.  And anyway the kids may not have wanted to eat, but we sure wanted to enjoy a nice omelet and a good cup of coffee, not to mention second helpings.

So we just kept feeding our faces and drinking coffee…and of course entertaining our grandkids so that they would not get bored.Hey kids let us take a stroll to look at all the Christmas decorations, aren’t they beautiful.  Liz’s mom and my mom were just as delighted to be apart of this breakfast treat.    A special time for us all.  O.K. no more waiting let us get this show on the road.

Dear Santa, you have no idea what you are about to encounter.

So, when we finally made it to Santa’s couch it was a surprise to us when the photographer told us to gather around Santa.  All we wanted was to get the kids seated by Santa and have Santa and the kids in the picture.

We were shocked when the photography insisted that we all stand around Santa to take a picture.

Christian could not take his eye off this photographer as  he made funny faces and funny noises to get the kids to sit still and smile…So here we are Groovinmoms, and their Groovinmoms, along with the grand kids, and great-grand kids…thanks Mr. Photographer you not only got us to poise with Santa, you even got Christian to smile…now that is one heck of a photographer.

Photo Album Memories

I love getting photo Christmas cards every year. Love getting any photo from my friends and family – Wedding – New Baby – Communion – Confirmation and Graduation. They are all special to me, so, I put them in a special album – ready to look at and enjoy whenever I like. Even though I don’t get as many photos any more because of the internet and Facebook I want to say thanks for the wonderful memories!

Time of the Season, Video

December 31, 2011

Saying a final goodbye to the old year and getting ready to ring in another New Year.  May we  continue to enjoy the journey, day by day,  remembering  the  old and making  room for the new,  because the beat goes on.

I am trying to learn this song “days gone by” ,  and even though I only understand half of what I’m reading, it always make me cry.

Have a Groovy New Years’ Eve.

Did You Know

New Year’s Eve And The Cocktail

cocktailI know that when I have a party, let alone a New Year’s Eve Party, it is  always great when your bar is stocked with a little of everything, but what is everything?

I was happy to come across this article on realsimple.com, How to stock a party worthy cocktail bar…. with New Year’s Eve on Saturday, you just might be having guests over to bring in 2012.  Here are some of what Real Simple suggest you have on hand. Illustration of a martini

VODKA… a must…at least in my house, most of my friends are vodka drinkers…expensive brands are not really necessary Absolute  or Rain Organic does the vodka good.

Illustration of a gin drinkGIN…try not to buy a really cheap brand of Gin, best one is Gordon’s since tonic is usually added to the gin

Illustration of bourbon on the rocksBOURBON…now this is usually not on my list, a little bit pricey for my taste…but I will be rethinking this.

Illustration of a rum drinkRUM…I remember those rum and coke days…but this is one of those items you need to splurge on, so go for the caribbean gold and try not to drink it with coke.  UGH!

Illustration of a margaritaTEQUILA…now we are talking, splurging on Tequila is a good idea, since most people really like to do shots.

Illustration of a glass of whiskeyWHISKEY AND SCOTCH…another splurging item, this is a must also in my house, hubby and dad always order it on the rocks.

One more thing.  Buying cheap mixers for drinks can more than dilute the cocktail…if you are making a Cosmo my choice of Cranberry Juice is Ocean Spray  (not diet) always use fresh limes and lemons…

Let us not forget those who will be driving home… Coke, Pepsi, Seltzer, should also be on hand last but never least, COFFEE..

  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
