Family

Irene, Thank You

They say something good comes out of a bad situation. I can attest to that. Thanks to Irene my family had a unexpected gathering.

My son and his family weathered out the storm as it began its decent toward NY.  Everything was going along fine until his basement took on water, thank God he has a water alarm.  Then the electricity went out. So they packed up their gear and headed on over.  Son, daughter-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter and let us not forget, Owen.

OK, this is not bad, this is good.  Then my sister called, no lights at her house and she needed to do her hair.  So my sister and my niece came on over.

We spent the day hanging out and eating away…the best part was  when my son and his wife decided that the best thing would be to stay over our house…a sleep over, how wonderful is that.  This Hurricane was beginning to look better and better.   Now the fun began.

Here Grandpa and Christian decide to dual it out.  I think you can guess who won..

You guessed it, CHRISTIAN!

Sophia decides to  prance around in  my daughter’s boots.  I had a visual of Greta Garbo, don’t know why…

The rest of us gather to bunker down for the evening.  A tight squeeze, never…My sister did end up going home along with my niece, for they ended up getting back their electricity.   My son was a tiny bit jealous that my sister was granted her wish…to get her lights back on, and they didn’t.    But, my sister was not the only one that had her wish granted,  I got mine too…for  my son and his family ended up staying over.
YIPPEE!

So, Irene, if you thought that your huffing and puffing was going to blow us away, you were most certainly under a misconception.  Your huffing and puffing  only blew us together.

Thank you, Irene

Stay Healthy On The Job

According to a article from Allyou,  simple stategies to combat three common workplace wellness hazards.

You Sit Or Stand Too Much………Walk three minutes every hour.  If you’re standing, rest one foot then the other on a stool to relax your back, or use a cushioned floor mat.  I stand alot at work and having  these cushioned mats really help.

You Don’t Get Enough Fresh Air……..On your break, go to an area with the least polluted air (like a park) or the top floor or roof of your building (gravity keeps pollutants low to the ground).  Consider buying an inexpensive portable air filter.  After I eat my lunch, I try to get outside for at least 10-15 minutes – usually leaning on a parked car, talk about the family or whatever.  Sometimes we take a walk to the dry cleaner or just around the block  for some exercise.

You Are Feeling Burned-Out..….Focus on the present rather than worrying about the past or the future.  When things go right, credit your efforts, not luck, and view tough situations as challenges, not problems.  I try to do the most I can, the best I can and not lose my joy or peace and stay in the moment ,  not saying its  easy, or that it always works…….but I try.  Then play $1.00 lotto twice a week.
