MAY 8th – May 14th, 2011 is National Women’s Health Week.
Yes, ladies this is the week to make your health top priority. Starting Mother’s Day, and for the entire week, we need to encourage our lady friends to take time to improve physcial and mental health, and to lower their risk of certain diseases.
The steps recommended
- Getting at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, 1 hour and 15 minutes of vigorous physical activity, or a combination of both, each week
- Eating a nutritious diet
- Visiting a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings
- Avoiding risky behaviors, such as smoking and not wearing a seatbelt
- Paying attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress
Go ahead spread the word. Help raise awareness among female employees, your mom, your aunt, yourself.
Women often neglect their health. Our lives are busy and always on the move
We tend to put ourselves on the back burner. Did you know that today’s women share the same health concerns as men, such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, weight management and stress. Anxiety disorders and depression are more common in women than in men.
The theme for 2011 is “IT’S YOUR TIME”. Do take care of YOU!
