Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall

Who is the fairest of them all?

When I enter a department store’s dressing room I feel like I am in a Snow White story.  The only problem is I am not Snow White. You know more like the evil step mother.  For when I look into the mirror, in the dressing room, I hear the  mirror reply, ” Not you.”    I have a honest dislike for them there mirrors.

Why do we always forget the bad experiences?  How could I have forgotten about those fun house mirrors?  But I did.

I recently needed a  dress for a wedding,  so I decided instead of buying what I liked and trying the dresses at home, I would just do like everyone else, try them on in the  store’s dressing room.

What a mistake!

I entered the dressing room, which was pretty private, just me and them there mirrors. The mirrors surrounded me, like the enemy they were.    One by one I tried the dresses and one by one the mirror reflected a distorted image.  Who was this person looking back at me?   Now I am really angry, with myself,  I know that this image reflecting back at me was distorted.  Really, I thought, do I  look that bad.  All four dress just did not look right,  so I did not want to continue any further.

But I did take  3  out of the 4 dresses home, because they were the only dresses that did not reflect back an image that said. “NOT YOU!”…You see my theory is if  you look half way decent in the fun house dressing room mirrors, you will certainly look good in a real mirror.  Which is exactly what happened, one out of the three now hangs in my closet.
