Baby Showers Can Be Fun

A baby shower is all about babies, yes? However this baby shower was about having fun and showing off the grandma’s to be.

Here is Doris, a childhood friend, standing by her daughter-in-law who is about to, as the generation of today put it, POP!  If you ask me Andrea does not even look like she is having a baby…wish I carried like that.

The sash Doris is wearing does not announce that she is Miss America, it announces that she is the Grandma to be.

Here is little Miss Emma, with Liz.   Emma was the only baby invited, see she knows people in high places.  Her grandma is Doris…

Not to mention that her mom is Amy, Doris’s daughter, and her great-grandmother is, Mary, Doris’s mother.   Emma was so quiet we never knew there was a baby at the baby shower.

The best part of the  shower was the games.

Here Pattie is wearing a string of pins, 5 pins to be exact.  The strings were given out to all the guests.  We all wondered what the string of pins was for…a new type of accessory, maybe?  No, it was for a game.  Interesting a pin game, OK, we will play.

The object of the game, get the pins from the other guests, the guest who says the word  ‘BABY’ .

Are your thinking, who is going to say baby?  To our surprise baby was used by everyone on our table, and more than once.

When someone used the ‘B’ word we all yelled, “YOU SAID BABY” now hand over a pin.

We did have some cheaters, like my mom.  She said baby then denied that she said the ‘B’ word…. she would not give up her pin…Ma, it is only a pin.

Here is Maryann, she won the fill in the blanks of the nursery rhyme game…amazing, Maryann can still remembers all the words to the  nursery rhymes… word for word…

Liz won a prize as well.  As for me, well, I just walked away with the thank you gift.

Our table made more noise than Little Miss Emma. See, we screamed with laughter when we won and when we lost, and screamed with laughter even when we cheated.
