Macy And The Santa

When our kids were little, Liz and I would take them every Christmas to see Santa, not just any mall Santa, but the 34th Street Macy’s Santa.

It was so much fun, we all enjoyed our outing to Santa Land, we loved it.

Then one day they grew up, and a date to go to see Santa was no more.

It was sad when they said goodbye to their childhood.

So as soon as I became a grandparent, January 3rd, 2007, I knew that my December outing to Macy’s on 34th Street would begin again.

So now I have pictures of Santa and Sophie displayed every year at Christmas time, and last year we were blessed with Christian, and he too became apart of our Christmas tradition, going to see Santa in Santa Land.

The visit to Santa begins with a train ride on the LIRR, which conviently stops at Penn Station, 34th Street.
Sophie and Christian get really excited to get on a train that toots a horn and rides outdoors.
Sophie is all smiles and excited to be heading to the city.
Christian face shows a little fear as he sits and watches.

 houses wiz by.

Why is DaDa  so serious?

Isn’t he at all excited about seeing Santa…it has been a whole year since we saw Santa last.
Santa land how exciting!

.

Here we are at Santa Land waiting on line to see Santa himself.  Poor Sophie looks like the train did a number to her hair…Whooosh!
Da Da look a train bell just like the one we got here on…ding, ding, ding goes the trolley…
All aboard the train to Santa Land…
Sophie, I know that look, you are thinking about what you are going to ask Santa to bring you  this Christmas, and Christian well lets just say he is most likely thinking of what he can bring to Christmas.
As we stroll down the path to Santa, we see a tree that talks.  I thought that talking trees were  only in the Wizard of Oz…I do hope we did not take a wrong turn.
Oh, let’s ask the elf.  See in Santa Land the elves keep us on track so that we don’t take a wrong turn…I guess they are Santa’s GPS.
Penguins that ski?  In Santa Land they sure do.   So I guess the road we are on is definitely not the yellow brick road.
We are close and now Sophie is all smiles…Santa is around the bend.
I am so excited.   I do believe, I do believe, I do believe in Santa…

Christian’s visit with Santa did not go as planned…but then Santa was real cool about it.
