Green Cleaning – At Home

While I was waiting to pick up my new glasses yesterday,  I found this article in Womans Day. If you should ever run out of a cleaning product, here are some suggestions from “The Joy of Green Cleaning”.

Furniture polish – instead use olive oil, white vinegar and lemon juice.  Combine 1/4 cup of each, pour some onto a soft cloth.  Spritzing the solution directly onto furniture can discolor it.

Fabric refeshing spray – instead use vodka.  To avoid an alcohol odor, mix the vodka in a spray bottle – even parts water (no olives).  Great odor eliminating  power.   Never use near an open flame.

Glass cleaner – instead use white vinegar and dish soap.  Mix 1 tsp soap with 1/3 cup vinegar and 3 cups water.  Apply with a microfiber cloth and let the surface air-dry for a streakfree shine.

Dry sweeping cloths – instead use paper towels.  Pop a towel onto the end of your mop just as you would the dry cloth.
