I have recently started watching the show Being Human…it is a series about a girl and two guys rooming together, but these three people are not your normal college buddies. See the girl is a ghost, one guy is a werewolf, and the other guy is a vampire. It was the vampire that got me thinking about my blood donations. Vampires need blood to LIVE. OK, what else is new?
This vampire made me realize that my 2-3 times a year blood donation is something very important to someone.
Giving blood was never my idea, I have to give all the credit to my friend Bobbi-Ann, she was the one who encouraged me to donate blood, and keeps me on the blood drive track. We have given so much blood that the American Red Cross made us members of the Gallon Club. I think this means we have donated a gallon of blood. How many vampires could that amount of blood feed? Sorry, I could not help asking.
Here we are giving again at St Catherine’s Church.
No standing in this line, there are always seats for the blood donors. Bobbi-Ann always ready with a smile.
Filling out the form is annoying. However, we have donated so many times we know the questions by hard. So it only takes a few minutes to complete.
A Red Cross employee. Cute. He would be the finger pricker, OUCH!
These lounge chairs are not for sunning.
And here I am having my blood pumped into blood bags…I always watch the blood fill up the bag…pump, pump, let’s get this bag filled.
Now here is another reason we donate blood…the goodies that you get to eat. This is the only time in your life you are encouraged to eat all that is salty and sugary.
.
Thanks Mr. Vampire. I know now that my blood donations are not to be taken lightly. Every drop of blood is given to those who need it ,and it makes me happy to think that somewhere, some place, my blood saved a LIFE.
