Blueberry Sangria

blueberrysangria

The 60’s, a great time in my life…and a great time to drink Sangria,a red wine and fruit drink: a chilled Spanish drink of red wine, fruit juice, carbonated water, sugar, and brandy or another liquor, usually served in a jug with pieces of fruit, yes that’s Sangria. I was younger in the 60’s and I never really appreciated any type of wine, but Sangria it went down easy because it was sweet and I liked sweet. Now that I am older, and least I should say, wiser, I have learned to appreciate a good bottle of wine and Sangria, well let me just say, sweet is not my thing anymore.

But, I recently went to a great restaurant and I was told their Sangria was great, so I opted for a glass of Sangria and now I can say,

I like Sangria again.   It went down easy and not as sweet as I remember it to be.

So I just want to give you a recipe that I found and I can tell you after drinking this Sangria you will be saying, “OLE” , too

Blueberry Sangria:

Ingredients:

1 bottle red wine

1 lemon slice

l lime sliced

1 orange sliced

1 cup fresh blueberries

1 cup Blueberry Vodka

sugar to taste, but I left out the sugar…don’t need it too sweet.

12 oz club soda.

Directions:

Combine all ingredients but club soda in a large bowl, or pitcher, and chill overnight, or several hours before serving.

When ready to serve add club soda and pour into a great wine glass….ENJOY!
