Riviera Maya, Mexico , was the place we decided to do our family vacation this year. Two years ago we went to the Dominican Republic or as I like to call it, DR. As family vacations go you can never predict how you will react to being with the people you love from early morning to late evening. I mean spending 12 hours together for 6 days is a test of tenacity. On this vacation we had some extra family members come along with us, like may sister, niece, and grand niece. Also included ,in our family vacation, our neighbors. Well, we don’t consider them neighbors they have been adopted into the family. All in all it was a total of 16 people. We all were stuck together in one resort…
Hotel Marina El CID Spa and Beach Resort
We all went blindly to this all inclusive resort. We booked it through Cheap Caribbean.com. We went because they were the experts and they knew best.
The food at El Cid was super good. The pool was super hot. The drinks, lets just say it was 5 o’clock all day long.
The beach was right behind the pool area. So not far to go and take a walk on the sandy shores of Mexico.
After breakfast we we would all head down to spend the day by the pool. It was hot! Hot! Hot! Hot! It was so hot the pool was like not really refreshing, but better than sitting in the sun.
How my daughter, niece and daughter-in-law could bask in the sun for hours at a time…not me I tried for one minute and my skin began to sizzle like a slab of bacon. That’s my sister sitting on the end of my niece’s lounge chair.
Some of us were smart enough to sit at a table with an umbrella over our heads. Here is Bobbi-Ann, Terry, Lorraine, my Mom and Dad. We took a break from the pool to play UNO! I did not even win one hand.
Bill, my husband, and my son, Damian. Now I know they look like they are not have a great time, but don’t let this picture fool you. They are doing exactly what they wanted to do…just hanging and do nothing.
I think vacation is about the pool time fun. Let me just say that swimming is not my thing, since I cannot swim, but, it never stopped me from playing Esther Williams with the grand kids. I spent so much time in the pool, this vacation, I was afraid my skin was going to shrivel up. All I can say is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Riviera Maya, Mexico was certainly a pooled filled time.
Bobbi-Ann and me, I am the one under the hat, with my grand kids…it doesn’t get any better.
Just a side note: my kids always made fun of me for swimming with my hat and sunglasses on. Always trying to get me to conform with the other swimmers. But! I noticed at the pool that my swim fashion had caught on. Yes! Others have joined the not so much sun club. I told my kids that, “My crazy swim fashion has now hit the waves.” 🙂
