The beach is really not a place I like to frequent. I am not a beach lover and really don’t like spending a hot day with hundreds of people on a beach strip in New York State. However going to the beach when every one is heading on home is the perfect time to hang at the beach, at least I think so.
Jones Beach is a great beach and only 20 minutes away from my home. It had been a long time since I visited Jones Beach, walk the boardwalk, and enjoy the fresh sea air.
So without hesitation I told my parents and husband, “This Saturday evening will be a Jones Beach night.”
The first thing you notice when you arrive at Jones is the tower. The Jones Beach Water tower stands 231 feet high in the center of a landscaped traffic circle. Yes, a circle! Do you know how many times I had to go around it to get to the parking area I wanted? Around, around you can go if you keep missing your exit, like I did.
As we walked the long distance to the beach from parking area 4 we were greeted with a floral display. I was amazed at how lovely they made the beach entrance way.
No one on the beach. How great was that! All the sun loving, frisbee throwing beach people had headed on home.
My father had a hard time walking around. So he would have to stop every so many feet to rest. I tell you can do a lot of walking at Jones Beach, and still have more to walk.
My husband, Bill, checking out the view of Jones. Taking it all in and realizing what a great beach Jones Beach is.
It would not be JB without the Seagulls. The Seagulls roam and fly all around. No fear of people, just waiting for a morsel of food to be left behind. Grab and fly away, then return for more. What the seagulls lived for.
Jones Beach fries. I had to order these fries. These fries had truffle cheese with a truffle white sauce dip. I must have been really hungry to get sucked into a high fat, high caloric dish. Thank God the fries were worth every calorie I consumed.

We all had a bite to eat at Jones, under a tent, along side the seagulls.
Dusk came quickly and it was time to head on home. I did not want to go but I was out voted.
As we walked on out to parking area 4 we noticed the prohibit sign. Thank goodness we did not have anything that was prohibited.
I now know that I do love the beach but not for the sun, sand, and sea. I love the beach for the boardwalk, and the food.
