Apple Pie #Tasteofhome #Homemade #Applepicking

I love pies.  Apple, pumpkin, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry….place a slice of pie in front of me and I am in dessert heaven.  Just one slice all it takes.   Out of all the pies apple pie  is my favorite.

I never considered baking a pie because buying a pie was easier than making one. Until my daughter dropped off  a bag of apples (the apples were handed picked), and said, “Here mom, make an apple pie.”   At first I shook my head and said, “NO!”  However, after looking at the apples just sitting inside my refrigerator, I thought, what a waste of apples, I should try to bake an apple pie with them. And so I did!

I searched the web for an easy recipe and found one – Apple Pie Recipe from Taste Of Home.

At first I couldn’t help but feel that I was taking on a big baking responsibility.  I quickly shook that feeling off and began gathering the necessary ingredients.   The most tedious task of making this pie was peeling the apple skins and cutting them up into bite size pieces.   I only had to buy the  ready made pie crust ( package of two crusts).   You didn’t think I would attempt to make a pie crust?  No way.   🙂  The second pie crust was placed over the filled bottom crust.  Preparation done, now the baking.

I could not believe my eyes as I removed the pie from the oven.  There it was my very own home baked apple pie.1286470098_500mae-evening-2010  19-362471-1WOW!  I did it.  I made an apple pie.

Note:  I omitted  some of the suggested ingredients.  I added more cinnamon in place of the ginger (didn’t have ginger in the house) and omitted adding the egg white and sugar on top of crust (did not want a sugary crust).

Now if you will excuse me,  I need to pour a glass of milk and enjoy my homemade apple pie.
