at my pace Lessons from Our Mothers by Jill Ebstein #bookworm

What a delightful book At My Pace Lessons from Our Mothers is!! Do you remember the most important lesson your mom taught you? Eat your veggies. Drink your water. Yes you are beautiful. I love you more. Your first cheerleader. Here, drink this. She has your back. Don’t be like everybody else. You won’t know unless you try it.  Raised me without a manual. Eat a good breakfast. Let’s get you a bra. It’s going to be Okay. Remember we all have mothers.

Jill Ebstein has just released a collection of stories from men and women ranging in age from under 40 to over 60, all candidly reflecting on one lesson, in approximately 1,000 words. Jill herself shares her own lesson of her mom, who while in her 80s, enrolled in a religious studies program — determined to take care of unfinished business, she graduates; her first ‘real graduation and her son hosts a grad party for mom at his accounting firm. This lovely book was so easy and fun to read, I read parts to my mom and I have passed it on to my daughter knowing it will make her smile because I will always be her mother.  It turns out that mother does know best.
