When my friend, Joanne, asked us to join them (Joe and Joanne) in Florida, we were happy to do so. We so needed a getaway! And Florida was just the right place to do this. No thinking, just drinking, eating, and enjoying friends. And also, absorbing the sun that has been MIA up North.
Our main meeting point was in Del Ray, Fl. We stayed in a lovely condo that made us feel right at home. However, the best part of our trip was when we drove to Islamorada, Florida Keys to enjoy more sun. In Islamorada we stayed at the Postcard Inn on the Beach, since this was recommended to us by our friend, Sara. To our dismay we brought rain from New York, and as we drove down to the keys it didn’t just rain it was a deluge of rain. But then
we saw it. The promise rainbow. We will not be see rain coming to Postcard Inn while we were in Islamorada.
And Postcard Inn was the perfect place to get that “I’m on VAACATION” feel. Such beauty! A gorgeous island. The water Caribbean blue. The sky bluer then the water’s reflections. “Who needs the Caribbean when we have it here in our backyard.”
For two days we hung out with each other in the perfect blazing sun. We needed umbrellas to hang at the beach which was gladly given to us with no extra fee from the Postcard Inn. NICE!

My husband never has a problem with the sun. Seems his Polish, and Irish skin, takes the sun pretty well. Go figure.

Finding a good place to dine in the keys was no problem. One restaurant we dined at was the Marker 88, which came highly recommended.
We were impressed with the size of the oysters we ordered. I had never seen oysters so large in all my short oyster eating life.
And, of course, you cannot go to the Keys without ordering the infamous Key Lime Pie. My sugar level spiked before I even had a bite…LOL!
The last night, at the Postcard Inn, was mixed with smiles and frowns.
We wished we had a few more days. No one wanted to leave Islamorada.
The question always asked at the end of a vacation is, “Why do vacations have to end?” But no matter the two days at Postcard Inn was exactly what we all needed.
I realized after our trip that the last time we all had gone to Florida was 41 years ago. Wow! It took that many years to do it again, ha! Well, since we don’t have 40 more years to do it again, I think we will be visiting Florida in the very near future.
