IL Bacco Ristorante Italian Restaurant #Celebration

This year, 2017, will be the year that will usher in the grand age of 65 for some very close friends.  The first one to turn the big 65 is my dear friend Pattie, who has a January birthday.  Ms. Pattie starts the birthday ball rolling.  Now to celebrate this “I can’t believe I’m 65!”

Here she sits, Ms. Pattie, the birthday girl (on the left) with her sister (on the right, of her left).  It was her sister who gathered the grand crew and suggested  we go to IL Bacco Ristorante Italiano Restaurant in Little Neck, NY.

My favorite part of the dinner was the bread and cheese, placed on the table as a pre-dinner treat.   I could have made the bread and cheese my main meal, the cheese was cut off the right block.   But we did have to order the main dinner.

Chicken Franchise and Veal Franchise was ordered and even though these dishes were not listed on the main menu, Il Bracco had no problem completing the request.

Il Bacco had specials of the evening, which we ordered, such as a sumptuous  SwordFish, a Risotto dish swimming in a white sauce and covered with shrimp and calamari.

And so we ate.

We sang Happy Birthday, after the one candled cake was brought to the table.  I don’t think Pattie wanted to see more than one candle on her birthday dessert.

Well, here we are.

We always have plenty to talk about, always plenty of laughs, and as always the last group to leave Il Bacco.

The night was not totally complete, you see, two of the grand crew couldn’t join us 🙁

Yes, they missed the fun, and we missed them.

Till the next celebration.

2017 has just begun.

Make Your Kid A Money Genius (Even If You Are Not) by Beth Kobliner #bookworm

Bestselling author and personal finance journalist Beth Kobliner new book from Simon & Schuster MakeYour Kid a Money Genius (Even if You’re Not) is one-of-a-kind: a comprehensive yet down-to-earth guide for all those parents out there who are struggling to teach their kids the financial facts of life. Timing is everything—most moms and dads these days know how crucial money skills are, but they’re clueless about where to begin. It’s never to early to start to learn something new.  Here is the starting point.

Make Your Kid a Money Genius isn’t your ordinary guidebook. Beth went into  the latest behavioral economics research to understand just how kids learn and build solid money habits. I gave the book to my daughter who has three children. My granddaughter wanted to look at it right away saying we have to show  the boys too. Then my darling looked at me and said “Thanks Grandma, we’re gonna be rich!” You have to teach them young.

Mamo Restaurant NYC #NYCRW @MAMO_NYC

Italians role in life is to feed people. They can’t help it.  So you know how  happy we were to get the opportunity  to enjoy a fabulous lunch  at  Mamo ,  a bright, absolutely charming and city classic Italian restaurant   during NYC Restaurant Week.  The staff was so helpful in suggesting a glass of Barolo, perfect choice and we do recommend it too. A little bread and oil and a little wine while we check out the menu. Cheers!

For starters Merci chose the garanelli pasta with cherry tomatoes, shrimp and mussels. I ordered the cold sliced veal rounds with tuna sauce and caper oil topped with fresh greens. Dishes so different from each other but so delicious, you know we tasted each others dish because well that’s what friends since childhood do. Have to tell you that tuna sauce and caper oil was out of this world.

For the main course I went with the Chicken Breast “Milanese Style” and Merci got the Grilled Gilthead Seabream on mixed veggies. At this point there was not too much conversation going on, we were much too busy eating.

There was cheesecake on the dessert menu but we passed and got the Tiramisu and Affogato (ice cream with warm strawberries). Perfect day. Perfect lunch.

There are a few more days left of NYC Restaurant Week, but not to worry you should get to Mamo Restaurant whenever you can. Just remember to stay calm and eat Italian Food. You can thank us later.
