Last week I had the pleasure to attend the launch of the Crest Healthier Smiles Project with actor Rob Lowe. Kids with poor oral health are 3 times more likely to miss school and that’s not OK. The Crest Healthier Smiles Project launched a nationwide education program with the PTA and teamed up with Feeding America to donate toothpaste to those who need it most.

The Crest Healthier Smiles Project is a nationwide education program about the importance of a good oral care routine for kids and regular visits with dental professionals.

  • Kids with poor oral health are nearly 3 times more likely to miss school (Source: 2008 North Carolina Child Health Assessment).
  • More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness (Source: 2000 report from Surgeon General on Oral Health in America).
  • Kids with toothaches are nearly 4X more likely to have a lower GPA (Source: 2012 Los Angeles public school survey amongst disadvantaged kids compared to kids without toothaches in the past 6 mos.).
    Rob Lowe talked about the Crest Healthier Smiles Project, his experience as a dad of two teenage boys, his mom’s experience as a high-school teacher and his upcoming projects.

    Simply take a picture of your smile and upload it to Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag, #HealthierSmilesProject and for every photo uploaded by October 31st, Crest will donate 5 tubes of toothpaste to Feeding America. Smile and share.

Sunday Funday Pizza and a Movie #familytime #Storks #SkinnyPizza #NYJets

My daughter and her husband went to the Jets Game on Sunday and I went and stayed with my grandchildren. I got there early and when I asked the kids what they’d like to do they replied “go to the movies”!!  Ok, let’s pick a movie that the little guy would sit for and enjoy.  My daughter said “take them to see Storks“.  Great idea!! Pre-ordered the tickets and off we went.

We got the kids popcorn deal which includes a small popcorn, small bag of gummies and a small fountain drink. We were a little early and someone was getting antsy.

We got nice and comfortable, settled in  and enjoyed our popcorn and the movie. I asked the little guy if he liked the movie and he told me yes, he wanted the baby with the red hair. Do you want a baby sister? All the kids yelled yes! we want a baby sister. When I told my daughter she texted me OMG!!! Ha.

The one thing my grandchildren all agree on is they all love pizza. So after the movie we headed over to Skinny Pizza for a slice. I just turned my back one minute and they got hold of the grated cheese and went to town sprinkling on as much as they could.  They let me know they were allowed to do that. OK. If you are looking for a sweet family movie I recommend Storks, fast moving and loving movie and those babies really are adorable, they really are. And everyone loves pizza. It’s a touch down.
