#HolidayCookies

I know the holidays are over but I would like to talk about holiday cookie mix that my husband came home with.  The cookie mix was in a  mason jar, they were filled with M&M’s, flour, and brown sugar.   When I saw this I asked him what it this for?   “For cookies,” he said.    Then he showed me the directions the jar came with.

Restoring The Flavor to Holiday Cookies”  What it said, right at the top.         0308                                    030812_pam_dawber_now_fullI loved this whole idea.  A jar filled with three main ingredients and all I had to do was add salt, butter, egg and vanilla to the it.  Ok, this works I thought lets get the grand kids and make them together.   10204_2

Now Sophie emptied the jar into a large bowl.

Then I added the other four ingredients .

We made holiday cookies with a jar.1025141134

Who would have thought!

And even better, I get to keep the glass jar!

#PamperedChef

Last Sunday my daughter-in-law had her first time ever Pampered Chef Party. 297219_4697287551029_603629542_n Of course, I was invited over to spend some money on the latest Pampered Chef kitchen cookware, and gadgets.

This was not my first Pampered Chef Party but it had been a very long time since I had been to one.    IMG_3970

Stacey  was the Pampered Chef  consultant.   She spread out all her Pampered Chef gadgets on the island and proceeded to use the gadgets to cook some very good food.  Wow!  This Pampered Chef Party turned into a pampered chef brunch.  Stacey showed us how to make a  spinach filled bread using the Pampered Chef’s biggest selling item the Pampered Chef stoneware.  Yum! Yum!  Beautiful spinach bread…of course we all had a piece and it was delish!

Then Stacey quickly prepared  chicken quesadillas.  The Pampered chef grill pan and salad chopper was used and then boom! It was all prepared and done.  Another great hit with the gals.0090505-rect_full

We ate, we drank and enjoyed the Pampered Chef Sunday brunch.  After which we all opened the Pampered Chef’s  catalog and began to place our orders.  110203

Pampered Chef has many kitchen items, even spices, and feature great recipes ideas.  The Pampered Chef all purpose pot( the ultimate kitchen companion),  was the hit of the party.   When we heard that the ultimate kithen companion pot can be used on the stove top, in the oven, in the microwave, and on the BBQ we went bananas for it. A 4 in one pot, it is the ultimate kitchen companion! I mean, Stacey cooked a whole  5 lb chicken in this all purpose Rock Crock pot in a micowave 30 minutes.

However, we had to save our money to spend at Liz’s daughter’s Pampered Chef Party.  Yup, now Vera will have her first Pampered Chef Party and we get to go again and eat all the good food that Stacey, the Pampered Chefconsultant prepares.

Let’s Cook French – A Family Cookbook by Claudine Pepin #cuisinonsFrancais

1616c

Let me just start by saying I have enjoyed watching Jacques Pepin cooking on TV and especially loved when he cooked with his daughter Claudine from  when she was a young girl to a women.  I have also seen him cook with his granddaughter too.  So I was so excited to get Let’s Cook French!  Creme Brulee will make the winter so much easier to bear. Am I right? What a great place to start to learn to cook.  There are also Italian and Spanish Cookbooks in the  Let’s Cook series.

The Let’s Cook series from Quarry offers all families the opportunity to discover new languages through well loved menus and recipes – from appetizers and snacks through salads, entrees and desserts – simplified for young and not so young chefs alike.  Each recipe is printed on facing pages – one side in English, the other in the original language – along with extra vocabulary, fun cultural and historical facts, and suggested activities. Illustrated by well-know artists and designers, each book in the Let’s Cook series is a treat for the eye, inviting and engaging eager young cooks.  Love the family photo of Jacques Pepin,  his daughter Claudine and their family.
