What a wonderful way to teach our kids about American history and its heroes. Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus and the rest of the Peanut gang focus on inventors, explorers and heroes, bringing history alive! This wonderful book has kid-friendly biographies and activity pages. Children can write about their own invention ideas and draw it too. Natalie has lots of questions and we really enjoyed looking and reading the book together!!

Long Island Apple Picking
Apple picking is a fun fall thing we do, especially as a family.
The last few years our apple picking fun time was always done in the orchards of upstate New York. But this year, we decided to skip the long drive, and all the tolls, to do apple picking closer to home. So we packed up the van, well we don’t have a van. So we packed up the cars and drove out to Harbes Family Farm on Long Island
.
Harbes Farm did have more than just apple picking. However, the price they charged to do all the adventures they offered were a little pricey. I mean much more than what they charge upstate. But we were at Harbes Farm and we went with the program. A very costly program.
Sophie and Christian were super excited, as for baby Emma, she was happy to be with her two cousins.
The farm was large, very large, and the farm offered many activities for the kids.
We did go a little late this year to do apple picking. A lot of the trees had already been picked dry. We did not have a lot of apples to choose from but we did walk out of the orchard with a full bag of apples. 
The kids always love sticking there heads into one of these giant boards…we always give a big laugh…Christian is Robing Hood and Sophie is Maid Marianne..
The apple bags were called a peck. We bought a half a peck bag. What the heck is a Peck? I can tell you a peck means you don’t get much apples. However, the best part of the farm was the corn maze. 
It was a LARGE CORN MAZE. We spent almost 2 hours trying to find our way out of this maze.
This maze was not your ordinary corn maze. Once we entered we had to find certain locations and the kids got to match it up with the paper they were given. All in all there were 3 locations. At one point we had to go over 2 bridges and talk with the merry maids who guarded the bridge. They spoke Old English, the language of Robin Hood and his merry men. Love Old English talk!
Getting out of this maze was certainly an accomplishment.
The corn stalks were bigger than the kids. Bigger than the adults…not even my son, who is over 6 feet tall could look over these stalks. The corn stalks reminded me of a movie called, Children of the Corn, which was a scary movie. That is why my son could not help himself when he popped out of the corn stalks to scare my daughter-in-law and my sister.

So when my cousin and her family were asked to go to the FDNY Museum it was exciting …They were going to learn about Firemen and Fireman Sam. Who is Fireman Sam? Fireman Sam is a Welsh animated children’s television series about a fireman called Sam and his fellow firefighters.
Little Desi and his sister, Isabella, arrive to share in a day of fun, learning what it is to be a Fireman.
At the FDNY museum the children got to see a movie about Fireman Sam and his heroes.

Isabella and Little Desi got to experience what it is like to crawl in a dark smoke filled room, trying to feel your way out.
Yes, this was a little scary for them because they made it so real!
Little Desi loved dressing up as the hero, Fireman Sam.
At the end of the day, Isabella and Little Desi experienced the life of Fireman Sam. Fireman Sam even has his very own song. Desi, and Isabella especially liked the Jupiter Fire Engine
