Appletini Or Big Apple Martini

Martini’s happen to be one of my drinks, but an apple martini never made it to the list, until recently.

Funny how you will end up having something that you thought you would never like…Yes, I am talking about Apple Martini’s.

The first time I sipped one  I quickly crinkled my face and told my friend nay, this is not a drink for me, just to sour …you know that green apple sour taste…I will stick to Cosmo’s, thank you very much.

Fast forward to present day.

I meet my girlfriend one evening for drinks…I order a Cosmo she orders an Apple Martini…all of a sudden her drink just looked so inviting, and the Cosmo seemed to old hat, or old drink, so on the next round I order an Apple Martini.  My taste buds were impressed, or matured, whatever happened I know now my new martini drink will be the apple martini.

I go home and do a Google search, I needed to know how to make them…Vodka was certainly a given but what gives it that apple flavor…Apple Schnapps was the answer.  So for all those who are tired of the same old martini, if you are a martini lover, or maybe want to upgrade a little…here is the simple way to mix your next party drink.

Sour Apple Martini with a Lemon Twist

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz green-apple schnapps, or sour apple pucker( which will give you a more sour flavor)

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Penny Gets Her Teeth Brushed

When I went to the vet, he told me that I had to start brushing Pennys’ teeth.  She was builing alot of plaque and she already lost 5 teeth last year.  I do not want her to lose anymore, or to go through that again.  I’m not crazy about dentists my self.  The toothpaste was pretty pricey – $10.00. It is chicken flavored Enzymatic Toothpaste by Virbac.  It also comes in beef flavor – next time.

Family

Mothers’ Day – 2012

Mother’s Day was another beautiful sunny day this year…so we enjoyed having appetizers and drinks outside in the backyard.
I could not have planned it better, my son and his family came early and spent some quality time with us…see my son’s family spends most of the day with  my daughter-in-law’s mother.  It was grand to see my children and Liz’s daughter celebrate Mother’s Day  together.  For when our kids are together I cannot help but reminisce about the good old days, the days  when they were just little tykes.  My son, Damian is only 9 months older than Vera, Liz’s daughter, so to say they are like sister and brother is truly an understatement.

Hello Natalie and Ms. Sophie…our first born grandchildren.  I still cannot believe that I am looking at Vera and Damian’s children.  Oh, how these two little people changed our lives. The moment they were born, life became simpler…see our grandchildren opened our eyes to the importance of not wasting time.  You know the time that is wasted when you have your own children…but now with grand children…we get to inhale every moment with them. Now meet Liam, Liz’s second grandchild.  This little addition to her family was very important.  For Liam is the first male to be born to Liz’s family…although he doesn’t carry Liz’s family name, he sure does hold the title of King Liam…My second addition to the grandchildren list…Mr. Christian!  Christian is a smiley little boy, who always gives us a run for our money…but appears tamed when he is eating his favorite snacks…but I still don’t trust him…I know he is thinking of something wicked to do, it is all a matter of time and endurance with him.Yes, Mother’s Day 2012 was a joyous time…great grandmas, grandmas, mothers, sisters, daughters, son, and friends…we laughed, we ate, we lapped up each others company.  When the day comes to a close it is always hard to say goodnight to each other, but we all know that we will be seeing each other again at the next family function, whenever or wherever that may be.
