BED & BREAKFAST @ OCNJ

A bed and breakfast.  Isn’t that all one needs?

A bed to have good night sleep, and a nutritional breakfast to get through the day.

My first experience at a B&B was just last weekend. We spent two nights at Ocean City Mansion, located in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Did we go to this B&B on a recommendation?  No. My husband and I went on the blind, all due to a  Groupon deal…not only was it our first B&B adventure but it was also our first time visiting Ocean City, New Jersey.

Ocean City Mansion..here is the living area…to bad I am not a chess player, now if  the game board were checkers then maybe I could have played a game or two.The porch…enjoying the quiet on the porch with a glass of pinot noir…my husband and I sat there for a few hours…it was so quiet that my husband’s chatter was making more noise then the birds…all he kept saying was,” it is so quiet here.”  O.K. dear, get over it…We not only had drinks in the evening, on the porch, we also had our delicious breakfast on the PORCH…the breakfast was so good, no, I mean SOOOOOO GOOOOOD! Eveything was  homemade…had this  squash bread the first morning, still warm form the oven, it was delish…an omelet stuffed with spinach and cheese, wish I could remember the name of the cheese that was in the omelet…all I know is it melted in my mouth like it would in an oven…don’t you just love the small round tables… a table, only for two.A day at the beach.  The water was cold and refreshing…the sand white and clean…the sun sprinkling its rays down on our bodies…I think I got my full share of vitamin D that day…or maybe not, I did cover my body with Coppertone Suntan Lotion  # 50…so that is questionable..

Boardwalk…bike riders, walkers, all on the boardwalk…I really wish I could ride a bike…but walking, now that Ican do with my eyes closed.

Bedroom…a four post bed, chandelier and vintage couch to relax on…a tiny balcony off the side…Oh, let me not forget to mention the pedestal sink just hanging out in the room…yes, we did have our very own bathroom… the room had a name, this was the Royalty Room, I really thought this room was great, but then I saw the Chocolate Room…now I need to go back and make the Chocolate Room my bed, and wake up again to the best breakfast anyone could eat…Hey, Chris Christy, OCNJ is New Jersey’s finest…at least I think so…

Family, Time of the Season

Soccer Fair

Last Saturday was the end of Liams’ soccer games for the season. It was celebrated with  a fair, which included sand bottle making booths, hot dog stands, ice cream and cotton candy. The best was the bouncy slides that all the kids love to climb up and slide down on.  I babysat on Friday night and slept over and in the morning, we headed over to the fair, so Liam and Natalie could enjoy themselves and see their friends.  I really wish I did not wear high heel sandels, the grass was wet from the rain the night before and I just kept on sinking in the grass.  But, the kids had a great time at the swing park and on the bouncy slide.  Natalie was so happy with her sand flower creation and did not want to leave the swing  park, but it was time to go watch Liams’ last soccer game for the season.  What a face!  These kids are just so cute playing soccer, some of the boys are really naturals.  Liam wants to be a goalie and he sure is good at it.  The coaches are great, they make sure each player gets a goal either during the game or in between plays.  Each of the boys got a cool trophey and a new soccer ball to take home, to practice over the summer.  These times go by too fast.  I can remember when my daughter Vera was in a softball team.  I got her the mitt, t-shirt and hat, I would bite my lip as I watched her put the mitt on the grass and  pick flowers out in the field.  She knew as much about softball as I did.  Makes me want to cry.  So now, I make sure I root and enjoy every game I can.  Win or lose, it’s always a good time.  Just have to remember to wear sneakers.
