Trying to get the grand kids to eat breakfast so that their day can begin…not easy when co-operation goes out the window…As Christian eats his waffles,quietly and happily, Miss Sophie tries to take control – or more like tries to get the attention.

 

 

This was the morning I realized that  sibling rivalry had set in.

Remove Snow Safely

You’re probably thinking, boy, does she need a vacation.  I must admit it has been a mild and wonderful winter so far.  I am not complaining because   I pull the short straw when it comes to digging the snow away from the house.   So, just in case a snow storm blows into town during the night, hey it’s winter, you never know.  Here are some smart tips to dig out from under winter weather without added aches:

 

Warm Up – Walk around inside for a few minutes, and bundle up before you head outside.

Size The Shovel – Use a lightweight shovel made of plastic, with a D-shaped handle grip to reduce twisting.  A shovel with a bent shaft, like the Erapro  “allows you to keep your back straighter.

Push It – Push snow into mounds rather than lifting.  Tackle top snow first and work down, layer by layer.

De-Ice It – Rock salt, available at hardware stores, makes it easier to remove snow and ice from driveways and walkways.

Blow It Away – a lightweight blower, like the electric 12 lb Snow Joe 322P Snow Thrower is easier to push and maneuver than bigger blowers, and could be used to clean off steps.

Tiny Tots and Jakks Logos

Liz and I had the best time at the 2012 toy fair.
 There we were in a room filled, corner to corner, with amazing new toys, NYC Toy Fair At JAKKS Pacific Showroom was a childhood dream come true…OMG!
 JAKKS’ Pacific Showroom reminded us of Santa’s completed workshop, all the toys nice and ready for all the girls and boys.
Being grandparents we were excited to be apart of the new, soon to be released, toys.

 

 

CUBIKALS – My grandson will love these…perfect for his little hands.   

 

ZOMBIES…I think zombies are beating the vampires…Walking Dead Pump and Shoot TV Game is the newest title to join the JAKKS’ Plug It In & Play Motion Portfolio and lets you shoot Zoombies just like in the hit AMC show!

 

 TINK  and a little  “BIG WHEEL… My granddaughter is a Tink fanatic, she cannot get enough of this little fairy…

My Desk – A Home Away From Home

I  have been blest with my job since 1988.  Then I was a young, divorced mom with  a darling daughter.  I work 5 days a week, averaging about 45 hours a week away from home.  I’ve been working here forever,  lots of things have happened since – I am now again divorced and a grandmother of  a little miss and a little mister. My daughter and her family came over yesterday for lunch and a visit…..a great way to spend a day off.  My desk is my little world  -a home away from home and in it I have everything I think I might need and some things that I just love to have around. Another time I’ll show you my shoe collection!!

Today is the day we honor all 44 U.S Presidents.

 

 

 

 

 

My favorite  are George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Actually, the original holiday was to honor George Washington.

I admire these two Presidents  for what they believed in.

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln stood firm in their morals and  principles.

George, being a soldier and a leader, saw many of his men die in battle…fighting an enemy that had more weapons, more money, and needless to say, more power than the early Americans.  GW  fought for freedom.  Freedom from a tyrant King who over taxed his people, and felt the need to tell his subjects what religion they should practice.  

Abraham Lincoln, declared a war that separated Americans – Civil War.  A war that lost more American lives than any war to date.  President Lincoln’s war was also for freedom.  Freedom from a mind set that believed in slavery.  President Lincoln strongly believed in what the founding fathers engraved in the Declaration of Independence,

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Thank you, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

 Thank you, for making the hard decisions that gave way to what we Americans enjoy  today.
