Blood Is Life

I have recently started watching the show  Being Human…it is a  series about  a girl and two guys rooming together, but these three people are not your normal college buddies.  See the girl is a ghost, one guy is a werewolf,  and the other guy  is a vampire.  It was the vampire that got me thinking about my blood donations. Vampires need blood to LIVE. OK, what else is new?

This vampire made me realize that my 2-3 times a year blood donation is something very important to someone.

Giving blood was never my idea, I have to give all the credit to my friend Bobbi-Ann, she was the one who encouraged me to donate blood, and keeps me on the blood drive track.  We have given so much blood  that the American Red Cross  made us members of the Gallon Club.  I think  this means we have donated a gallon of blood.  How many vampires could that amount of blood feed?  Sorry, I could not help asking.

Here we are giving again at St Catherine’s Church.

No standing in this line, there are always seats for the blood donors.   Bobbi-Ann always ready with a smile.

Filling out the form is annoying.  However, we have donated so many times  we know the questions by hard.  So it only takes a few minutes to complete.A Red Cross employee.  Cute.  He would be the finger pricker, OUCH!

These lounge chairs are not for sunning.    And here I am having my blood  pumped into blood bags…I  always watch the blood fill up the bag…pump, pump, let’s get this bag filled. Now here is another  reason we donate blood…the goodies that you get to eat.  This is the only time in your life  you are encouraged to eat all that is salty and sugary.

.

Thanks Mr. Vampire.  I know now that my blood donations are not to be taken lightly.  Every drop of blood is given to those who need it ,and it makes me happy to think that somewhere, some place, my blood saved a  LIFE.

More Life Lessons From Miss Penny The Dog

Miss Penny has alot to share, without saying a word.  If you have or know a pet or animal,  you know what I’m talking about.   Here are some more wonderful  life lessons I’ve learned from my pretty little dog and why I just love her to bits.  Stop,  Look, Listen – you just never know where you’ll learn something new.

Queen For A Day

When the grand children come over we never know how they are going to use their imagination.

This one babysitting day Christian  turned a kitchen table into monkey bars, and Sophie turned herself into a Queen.  My husband and I love it when the grand kids allow  us into their fantasy world…

Sophie took a step up from being a princess, she learnt real quick that the Queen is tops…

Don”t Let The Cold Stop You From Moving

Merci is the exerciser in this group, she is very dedicated about it. No matter the weather, she always makes time to go to the gym  about 3 times a week.  But for me, it’s easy to forget about exercise, especially when it’s  cold outside.  But the best thing is to do it anyway. Get out and walk or stay inside and move it.  You will feel better for it.  I take Penny to Astoria Park and we walk outside the track (no dogs allowed on track) a few times, good for her and good for me.
