Christian & Stephanie Nielson -Story of FAITH
The story of Christian and Stephanie Nielson came to my attention while I watched Glenn Beck, it happened to be a repeat show. Christian and Stephanie began to tell a story about a tragic event that changed how they would view life from that moment on. You see they were in a plane crash and they both suffered burns. But Stephanie suffered extensive burns, more than 80% of her body was burnt in the crash. This once pretty woman now had a disfigured face. Stephanie and Christian seemed so strong and committed to each other. They both just forged forward with life, even though the hand they were dealt seemed so unfair. I was truly impressed with Stephanie’s courage and strength to go on, and the stories she told about how people would react to her. Stephanie handled all the questions and all the curious on lookers with such grace.
As I listened to their ( her) story, I could not help but wonder, what if it were me? What if something like that happened to me and my husband? Would we be able to stay committed after surviving such a horrific event, an event that would change the way we looked on the outside. Would we remain the same on the inside?
What love between the both of them!
I also could not help thinking is this love for real? Are they putting on an act? Where is the blame game that we all play when something goes wrong? Heck, it is like the end of the world when just a fingernail gets broken. Yet, these two people just seemed to tell the story of the plane crash like it was just another day in a life.
My questions to myself was, how can I learn from these two very special people? How did they see light through the darkness? What did they have to forge ahead and continue living a life that was worth living?
Then Stepahine said the word, the word that gave her the strength to move on. Stephanie said, ” she had ‘FAITH.” Yes, ‘FAITH” is what they both shared. The belief that God helped them survive the crash and gave them both another chance at life for a reason.
It was then that I understoond that Stephanie’s face may have been disfigured in the fire, but her ‘FAITH’ was not.
Stephanie and Christian made a decision to looked at what God had given them, not what God had allowed to be taken away.
See they said ,” With GOD all things are possible.”
Thank you, Christian and Stephanie, thank you for keeping the “FAITH”.
