Last week I too the day off the take Miss Penny to the vet. I thought she had a cyst under her tail. Turns out, she had swollen anal glands on the right and left side. She was constantly licking herself, more than usual. I’m glad I went to see the vet, he told me Penny had a fever. He squeezed the left gland and it popped, disgusting. When he went to squeeze the right side, it just started to bleed. I almost started crying and then he told me this was very common in dogs and cats.
So he gave her a shot and sent me home with 2 types of pills, I have to bring her back tomorrow for a follow up. Miss Penny had to wear a head guard for the whole week, so not to lick , and the area could heal. She has been a real trouper. I tell her she looks like a French model. Hopefully, the doctor will give her thumbs up tomorrow and she won’t have to have surgery to remove the infected gland. Keeping my fingers crossed 🙂
To top the week off, we got a visit from Nemo the storm, turned out to be not as bad as expected, but Miss Penny did not like it.
