The Lion King Roars!

Disney on Broadway may not seem special to some but it ended up being special to me.  Going to the play was special because we went with the grand kids, my parents, my son and daughter-in-law, but I truly did not think that I would really end up enjoying the story that I have seen so many times on TV.

I mean when my daughter was little she had the Lion King tape. A VCR tape.  OMG! Is that how old this story is?  Where does time go?   Is that not the million dollar question… 🙂Lion King 026

We decided to go see the Lion King for my grandson Christian, he loves the Lion King story.  Now Sophie not so much, but she was happy to be going to see a play on Broadway.  Like she knows what Broadway is, LOL!  Now my mom, she was also happy as a lark, she loves hanging out in the city.

Lion King 030

The city!  Look at the busy Broadway street.  I tell you Broadway was so lite up that the night looked like day.

.  Lion King 034I have to admit it was a big chance taking Christian, an almost 3 year old, to see this play.  My lovely husband just kept reminding us that the play was 2 and half hours long with a 15 minute intermission.   Would Christian sit for the whole entire play?  I mean the tickets were not exactly discounted for him, or my granddaughter, and the show we went to see started at 8 pm.   What were we thinking?

Lion King 035To our delight Christian sat and watched the whole play in awe, without any incident.  No, there was one incident.  When his sister decided that Christian did not need to be holding the playbook.  She sweetly knocks it out of his hand and the book drops behind the chair of the people sitting right below them.   Now Christian begins to roar.  I thought this is it, we will now have to leave the theater.  They will throw us out for sure. We had to handle the situation quickly, so his daddy grabbed another play book and pretended to retrieve the book that was knocked behind the chair. To our surprise, Christian calmly took the book and returned to his mother’s lap.  Just in time, the lights went out, and intermission was over.

Lion King 033It was a great experience bringing the children to see a real Broadway play. We all enjoyed the beautiful costumes, the songs, the dance, and it did not matter where you sat, the stage was easily seen even from the top rows…see that is were we sat, the top rows (I don’t have to tell you why we sat there)

If you have not yet seen the Lion King, on Broadway, you are certainly missing out on a Broadway spectacular.

We all gave the play  5 ROARS!

PS –  It really deserved 10 ROARS, but that is too much roaring for me.
