Aging! it’s a process that is inevitable. However, aging doesn’t have to be the end of all good things.
I am a strong believer in keeping strong, and fit. Even now with osteo-arthritis, in my knees, I make sure I keep on the move, of course, I had to slow down a little but I won’t give in to it’s hold.
Strong is the key word. After over 5 years of a daily crossfit routine I found myself to be stronger than when I started. I didn’t think I would keep it up but I did. Even now, at my age, I can say I did the right thing. Crossfit has given me the strength to do so many simple daily tasks. Tasks like, carrying a heavy grocery bag, lifting heavy items, like a case of water or a large bag of mulch. I would never have been able to lift them on my own.

just to be clear, crossfit is not only about weights. I remember the first time I went on a row machine, it was not easy. I can now row 500m in less than 3 minutes. That’s an accomplishment for me.



Push presses, cleans, thrusters, strick presses, I can now do. Oh, there is one bar exercise I still have a hard time with and that is snatches. Ugh! I don’t think I will ever get to like those but I can’t pick and choose what I would like to do, not with Coach Bernie

One thing about working out you are never alone. Here I am with Lillian, my crossfit buddy. We always encourage each other, clap when we do a heavier than normal weight, yell, “You can do it.” and so much more. We text each other almost everyday asking, “You going today?’ This way we keep each other in check, so we don’t get lazy and try to skip a class. Everyone at Crossfit Sanctuary encourages and supports each other. I do miss Lillian when she isn’t there. Working out just in not the same without her.

Here I am with my daughter lifting sand bags, I love working out with her. She is having a baby but still works out, which is good for her and the baby. She has been been crossfitting for many years, her pregnancy doesn’t need to stop her. Of course, she is unable to do all the workouts but Coach Bernie will always modify the workout for her.
Crossfit has been a blessing. With the Lord’s help and provision I will keep doing crossfit till… I don’t know, can’t really answer that but as of now I have no intention on hanging it up.
Crossfit Sanctuary is not your ordinary gym to me….it’s a group of people who know the need to be fit and strong, and I know it can slow down the aging process.
PS- Crossfit is not for everyone, but it is for me!
