Batman is 8 – Happy Birthday!

Can Batman really be 8?  Where did the Bat time go?  Our little Batman, turning into a bigger Batman.

I imagine that 8 years, to my only grandson, seemed like a long time, but to the family, those 8 years of watching him grow was as quick as a blink.  However, even though he is 8, he continues to enjoy having his birthday celebrated with his family and his hero – Batman.

The place of celebration is always at the Hampton house.  Of course, both sides of the family drove up to the Hampton’s to celebrate his b-day.   A drive that was not an easy one this year for my family.   We drove up in the rain which had no mercy for our journey.  Like it did not stop!!  Then the car had a flat!  Right on the Long Island Expressway (LIE).   It was not fun waiting 4 hours for help to arrive.  In my mind I had a vision of a Bat car pulling up to rescue us.  No such Bat moment.  What a story I could have told my grandson!  The good news, the  party did not begin till we arrived safe and sound.  With the smile of a child, my grandson showed us that the day was not wasted.

As we sang “Happy Birthday” all the rain we endured, getting to the house, could not wash away a precious moment.  A Bat blue cake!  Filled with M&M’s!  In my book you can’t get a better birthday Bat cake than that. Happy Birthday, my dear grandson!  God bless you!  You will always be our little Batman.

Demarchelier Restaurant and Bar #FrenchCuisine

Happiness is good food with fresh ingredients, that is what we enjoyed on our visit to Demarchelier Restaurant & Bar. We found a friendly, warm atmosphere welcoming us for lunch , a real treat in New York City.

We were very excited to enjoy our French experience and so we asked the lovely hostess to bring us what she thought was the best of the house. The meal started off with some red house wine and plates of oysters and escargot with garlic butter. We started to dream in perfect French.

So happy we controlled ourselves and stayed away from the fresh bread because the next course was a perfect Filet Mignon and Rainbow Trout, served with beets, roasted cauliflower (mixed vegetables)  and the sweetest French string beans.  We did our best and ate it all. Oh, so delicious.

We had no room for coffee or tea but we did have room for dessert. Oh, Crepe!! Crepe Suzette that is, and Apple Tart with Ice Cream.  You see we love to eat.

Demarchelier Restaurant is perfect for lunch (they have a daily lunch special) and dinner. Ideal for family celebrations or a quiet dinner for two. To live well is to dine well. Bon Appetit.

Lenox & Park RVC #Diningout #Food #Dining #SpecialOccasion

A special time calls for a special place, and Lenox & Park in RVC was it.  Special because it was a birthday celebration (husband), along with an anniversary (ours).   For the toast an order of Stella, and a shaken, must never be stirred, Martini.  With a cling and a kiss we began our simple night of celebration.

Going out to dinner is not our “out of the normal”.  We tend to eat out often.  No need for celebrations.  Which is why I  felt the need  to shake the night up, just a little.  Doing a little shaking up is not an easy task for the man I married, but had to give it a try.

To create a little different dining experience I convinced my husband to change his “normal”order by choosing something different from the menu.

For a starter we ordered the Jumbo Pretzel.  The pretzel  served with queso, mustard, and a signature sauce for dipping.  This jumbo pretzel was amazing.  Their dipping sauce, fabulous!  However, for two people!!  Was just too much.  I wished the waiter had mentioned the size of the pretzel.  Jumbo this pretzel was.   Then I thought, we won’t even eat all of it. We did eat the entire Jumbo Pretzel.   I was not about to leave any morsel of the tasty jumbo pretzel behind.

Then it was the Steak Tidbits for main course, served opened faced on  toasted garlic hero with Gorgonzola cheese.  Gorgonzola cheese was the added twist to our dining.

A Grilled Chicken Panini with fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, sliced tomatoes, a mix greens and a basil pesto that enhances it all.  Not so different!  But I did enjoy the side of steak tidbits. The night was complete.  The menu at Lenox and Park gave us what we needed to make our dining celebration complete.

A Happy Hour night is next on our lets shake things up a little program.  Lenox & Park has got the rumble we need.

Jarlsberg Cheese Snacks and the Prosciutto #Jarlsbergcheesesnacks

Jarlsberg Cheese  Snacks are not only for snacking but can also be for wrappin’.  Wrapping around an Italian cold cut called Prosciutto.  In preparing an antipasto for this past Memorial Day, I decided that why should I wrap a piece of Prosiutto with the standard cheese (mozzarella) let me try something a little different.

It was fairly easy.  Take one Jarlsberg Cheese Snack cut in half.  Now you have two pieces of Jarlsberg Cheese Snacks.  Take one piece of prosciutto, begin to roll the prosciutto around the cheese.

Begin the roll on both sides of the cold cut and meet in the middle.

When the cheese meet slice apart.Add to antipasto plate.  Or just alone!   Jarlsberg Cheese Snacks can make any antipasto dish Italian bene.   Antipasto buon cibo.
