Charlie and The Chocolate Factory – Christmas On Broadway

I used to wonder and wonder for months what am I getting my family for Christmas. I used to make a list and do my best at trying to buy the perfect gift. Then the family started to grow and everyone had their life and I felt like the best gift was to spend time together. So I started taking my niece to Broadway on her birthdays and then last year I thought why not Broadway for Christmas. We would all be together, enjoying and experiencing a live musical and being in the moment. Last year at my daughters’ suggestion,  we went to see The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center and we had the most magical time. This year after a little research and again at my daughters’ suggestion, I chose Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory  – The New Musical. An Afternoon Of Pure Imagination!

We almost took up the whole row. My daughter and her family, my son in law and my three grandchildren. My sister and my mom, we were a little worried about my mom (she is getting stronger everyday coming back from the stroke in March). My sister and I got my mom into the city with a cab, nothing like door to door service and the weather played along being a beautiful day. My niece Sandra and her boyfriend Robbie took the MTA and met us at the theatre. Believe me,we have our days, but today we were one big happy family.  The theatre was filled with smiling and laughing children and they were selling cotton candy and popcorn, so everyone was having a great time! Happily waiting for Charlie, Willy Wonka and the Oompa!

The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre is a beautiful place and waiting for the curtain to rise we were all 10 year old again, even my mom (she is 87).  This was my grandchildrens’ first Broadway Musical and they did not know what to expect, they have seen the movie countless times and just wanted to see Charlie. So when Charlie found that golden ticket.  Yes!!!  They were so excited for the magic to begin. We all were.

The show is just fantastic and at one point the children in the audience were cheering Charlie on!!  It was a wonderful Sunday and we all loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Amazing time, I love this time with my family and I loved giving them this gift, a gift I hope they remember when they think of me. Family is the best part of Christmas.  Wishing you and yours a  Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2018.

Christmas Story #UntoUsaChildisBorn

I never grow tired of hearing the story of the first Christmas.  I also, never grow tired of seeing the first Christmas story acted out, especially when the actors and actresses are my grandchildren.

This year our church gave my little Sophie the chance to play  the part of Mary.  She was so excited to have such an important role.  Angels, lambs, and Mary (Sophie),  receiving the news that Mary would bare a child.

With backs turned the children made it clear that Mary and Joseph were not welcomed at the Inn.

These shepherds, holding stuffed sheep, made it clear who they came to see.

The play came to a heralding end.  As all the children joined in to sing praises to the new born King.  And my grandson, the one with the glasses, gave a super rendition of his acting skill as an inn keeper.

Yes, the story of the first Christmas never changes, and for me, never grows old.

Celebrating 50 years of Thanksgiving in Photos #TastyTuesday

Eat Drink and Be Thankful. This was our 50th Thanksgiving Day spent together. As in life you win a few and you lose a few. We are grateful and so happy for the new people at the table but we make it a point to remember those who are no longer with us.

Most smiles are started by other smiles and here are some of the prettiest smiles in the room.

Remembering that the root of all joy is gratefulness.

Thankful for these wonderful people who take eating as seriously as I do. Kudos to Merci and her Groovin’Mom Nina for another perfect and delicious Thanksgiving Day meal.

Joey Joey Joey thank you again for carving the bird as only you know how – Perfectly. A thankful heart is a happy heart. Save me that drumstick please.

Forever thankful for young love.

Thankful for family, friends who like pie and who like to gamble because it’s just not a party until there is money on the table. Left Center Right is a really fun family game. Congratulations to Erin who won the pot that evening!!

Grandchildren are a blessing from above. Um, they were a little busy here. You know how it goes.

And this is why we love Mercis’ Dad so much

Thank you Lord for the food before us, the friends beside us and the love between us. From our house to yours. Happy Thanksgiving.
