DOT TO DOT NYC #DOTTODOTNYC @CityLab

As a child I always loved to paint.   Paint by numbers, that is.  I would paint cats, dogs, landscapes and always thought my drawings were the next best thing to a Picasso.  I did forget how much I enjoyed painting by numbers.  However I recovered my memory of my love for number painting when I received the sketch coloring book Dot To Dot NYC.

Dot To Dot NYC is a sketch by number coloring book as created by Narae Kim

Sketching by numbers is a lot of fun!  A little different then painting by numbers but even more interesting to complete.

The special thing about Dot To Dot NYC is it gives you the opportunity to draw epic New York City landmarks (revealed and completed by you).  I Love NY! <31286470098_500mae-evening-2010

Crayons or markers that’s all you need to visit the rides of Coney Island, the towers of the famous NYC skyline, the commute along the Staten Island Ferry, the wilderness of the Bronx Zoo, and many more NY land marks…

img_5992-2

Dot To Dot NYC is not just for a rainy day, you can enjoy this celebration of the Big Apple as a keepsake of your visit, or spend your hours connecting the dots and inch yourself closer to your Broadway dream!  As a native New Yorker Dot To Dot NYC gives me the opportunity to really get to know the city I love.

The book is the creation of the Seoul-based artist Nara Kim. She visited New York City in 2012 and was smitten. The press release beckons New York lovers to arm themselves with drawing supplies and turn abstract clusters of dots into the city’s iconic skyline.

Crest #HealthierSmilesProject #RobLowe

Last week I had the pleasure to attend the launch of the Crest Healthier Smiles Project with actor Rob Lowe. Kids with poor oral health are 3 times more likely to miss school and that’s not OK. The Crest Healthier Smiles Project launched a nationwide education program with the PTA and teamed up with Feeding America to donate toothpaste to those who need it most.

The Crest Healthier Smiles Project is a nationwide education program about the importance of a good oral care routine for kids and regular visits with dental professionals.

  • Kids with poor oral health are nearly 3 times more likely to miss school (Source: 2008 North Carolina Child Health Assessment).
  • More than 51 million school hours are lost each year due to dental related illness (Source: 2000 report from Surgeon General on Oral Health in America).
  • Kids with toothaches are nearly 4X more likely to have a lower GPA (Source: 2012 Los Angeles public school survey amongst disadvantaged kids compared to kids without toothaches in the past 6 mos.).
Rob Lowe talked about the Crest Healthier Smiles Project, his experience as a dad of two teenage boys, his mom’s experience as a high-school teacher and his upcoming projects.
