I HOP FOR IHOP!

ihop1Liz and I love to take our grand kids out for a  special treat while they are out on Christmas break.

IHOP was the place we took them to this year!

We  thought how wonderful it would be to share  breakfast together and enjoy their darling company.  We also knew that IHOP would provide us with a breakfast that could fill up hungry stomachs.

Are they not the cutest!  They also love to hang out with each other.

When the IHOP waitress sat us down she immediately brought over some crayons and paper for them.

The grand kids were happy to have this coloring session time.

Until!

It was spitball time!

Not sure who was the first one to start spit-balling but once they started they just would not stop.

Thank heavens IHOP is a family restaurant and they seem to understand how kids can get a tiny bit out of control.

Out of control is an understatement.  It was like Liz and I were not even sitting at the table with them.

Liz and I could not even have a conversation without saying, “Stop it!

I tell you IHOP is a True Family place.  We loved how the waitress kept serving us with a smile.  🙂

And as it was not easy eating the hearty delicious breakfast at IHOP with the grand kids spit-balling each other.

I certainly had no problem finishing my pancakes and omelet breakfast.  YUMMY!

Yes, IHOP is a great family restaurant and yes they served us with all smiles even when the spit-balls kept  coming.

IHOP pancakes made my day, even if the grand kids misbehaved.

Snow Days and Hot Cocoa

snow132014

I  got a text from my office manager this morning  and he told me that the office will be closed today. It’s been snowing all night and the city just announced that NYC schools will be closed.  My office follows NYC protocol and that means today is a “SNOW DAY”.  And it’s Friday – Oh, yeah!

Growing up, snow meant there would be hot cocoa and cookies waiting for us after we played for hours and hours. How we loved to play in the snow.  I know children  will be enjoying today.

So I’m treating myself to some hot cocoa and chocolate graham cracker star cookies. They only come out this time of year. Love them!!  If it’s snowing where you are, please stay safe and warm and join me in a cup.  Welcome 2014 🙂

Hot Cocoa

2 Tb2 sugar, 2 Tbs Cocoa, Dash of salt, 1C Milk, 1/4 tsp vanilla
Mix sugar, cocoa and salt in large mug.  Heat milk in microwave 1 min or until hot (be careful)   Slowly add milk to cocoa mixture, still well. Stir in vanilla.  Enjoy!!

Family

Happy 2014

How wonderful it is to start a new year with the people we love.  This new year we had the pleasure of having a family gathering at Vera’s home.

Liz was so proud to be the guest at her daughter’s house.

Past New Year’s Day gatherings,  Liz would host the day at her home, but this year she got to put up her feet and be the guest.

Well, an almost guest.  Liz had to do some of the work since her daughter was really having it at her home because Liz had asked her to host this year’s New Year’s Day celebration.

All the kids came to break some New Year’s bread.

No, not all the kids.

My son and his family were MIA.  See, he had his deviated septum surgery on Monday and was unable to make it.  🙁  He is still recouping.

Now Bill, Vera’s husband, was the bestest host.  Always making sure that we had what we needed.

And always serving with a smile.  Just love Bill!

Here she is.  Vera!  Our hostess with the mostess

Vera certainly made her guests feel right at home, and she kept up with the crazy pace that we can create when we are all together under one roof.

How wonderful is it to start a new year with family and very dear friends.

Now we have to get use to writing the number 2014 on checks and other items, but we never have to get use to being together.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

MAY GOD BRING MORE FAMILY AND LOVE INTO YOUR LIVES, AS HE HAS BROUGHT INTO OURS.
