Bunny Cake

bunnysandra

Every Easter I love to  make a Bunny Cake, first with my daughter Vera, then with Vera and my niece Sandra.  Then one day, Vera did not want to make the cake anymore, so it was me and Sandra and now she is a sophomore in college!  This is a very easy and popular Spring/Easter cake to make.  It’s alot of fun too, you can just go crazy decorating it anyway you like.  This is what you need:

Bunny Cake

1 package 18.25 oz  cake mix – any flavor
3 3/4 Cup flaked coconut – optional
1 16oz  frosting – any flavor
Jellybeans and Licorice  for decorating (any candy you like)

Heat oven and prepare two 9 inch round baking pans as directed on cake box. Prepare cake batter with as directed on package adding in 1/2 cup of coconut. Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans.  Bake and cool cake as directed on package.

When cooled, place one whole 9 inch cake layer on serving tray, forming the bunny’s head. Cut 2 convex shaped ears from each side of the second layer, place on each side of head to form ears. Use concave shaped piece for the bowtie, place about 1/2 inch below head.

Frost entire bunny covering top and sides of bunny. Pat remaining 3 1/4 cup coconut evenly over top and sides. Decorate the bunny face and bowtie with jellybeans and use the licorice to make whiskers.

Nail Painting

The best way to keep your hands looking good is to get , a cosmetic treatment for the hands and nails that usually involves shaping and polishing the fingernails, pushing back the cuticles, and treating rough skin, a manicure.  A manicure is a must have for hands.  However, I  tend to get a manicure only when I am going to an event .i.e. party, wedding, maybe dinner with friends.  I am a little lazy about getting to the manicurist and always have a problem squeezing out an hour of time to have this pleasure.

I have a hand problem.  If only I could get a manicure  on a regular schedule. My hands would really look great.

I really did not start manicuring my nails until I was in my late 30’s.  So I found it interesting to see my granddaughter and Liz’s granddaughter so into manicuring their nails.

Natalie, she had a jar full of all different colored nail polish and nice colors…

I mean nail polish in my house does not take up a lot of bathroom space…sorry, just not that into nail painting.   However, I  did enjoy watching our lovely grand children paint their nails.

Oh! How they polished their nails…they kill me. 🙂

Just love them kids!!!

Hand Traced Leprechaun For St Patricks’ Day

natalie3100As soon as I come in the door, Natalie asks, “Grandma, can you color with me?”  Then Liam chimes in ” Can you color with me too, Grandma?”  Sure thing, only one problem, Natalie wants me to color in the Barbie coloring book and Liam wants me to color in the Hulk coloring book.  So to keep the peace, I try to get them to draw and color free style.  Being it was near St Patricks Day, we decided to make rainbows, pots of gold and leprechauns.   Liam was finished first, he wanted to go back to playing his game. natalie310 Natalie is the artist,  She made a girl leprechaun covering the fingers with a dress and then she added a tree!!  It starts with tracing a hand and arm on paper and coloring it in your own way.handtracedleprechaun
