President’s Day
Today is the day we honor all 44 U.S Presidents.
My favorite are George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Actually, the original holiday was to honor George Washington.
I admire these two Presidents for what they believed in.
George Washington and Abraham Lincoln stood firm in their morals and principles.
George, being a soldier and a leader, saw many of his men die in battle…fighting an enemy that had more weapons, more money, and needless to say, more power than the early Americans. GW fought for freedom. Freedom from a tyrant King who over taxed his people, and felt the need to tell his subjects what religion they should practice.
Abraham Lincoln, declared a war that separated Americans – Civil War. A war that lost more American lives than any war to date. President Lincoln’s war was also for freedom. Freedom from a mind set that believed in slavery. President Lincoln strongly believed in what the founding fathers engraved in the Declaration of Independence,
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Thank you, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Thank you, for making the hard decisions that gave way to what we Americans enjoy today.
