First Holy Communion Day

Welcome to Calebs’ First Holy Communion. He was so excited, talking about it for weeks how he will be able to receive the body of Christ with his family today and every Sunday after. He was not so excited about wearing a suit and new shoes and neither was his brother, but they did and it was good. Boys.

After the beautiful mass and ceremony of Caleb and his class receiving the wonderful sacrament of Communion, we went to break bread again together at Calogero’s Cucina Italiana because we all know that Italian food is always a good idea.

Our family eats together, prays together, works together and plays together. We are blessed to be together on this very special day.

Congratulations Caleb on your First Holy Communion, may you forever feel the warmth and comfort of the Lords’ love with you everyday.

“Life and Other Shortcomings” by Corie Adjmi

Life and Other Shortcomings by Corie Adjmi illustrates the stories of 12 women, all on a different path in life, with one common overarching theme: the beauty, honesty and compelling nature of the female experience and what it means to be a woman. Through each character’s intimate journey, specific truths are revealed about what it means to be a woman—in a relationship with another person, in a particular culture and era—and how these conditions ultimately affect her relationship with herself. The stories as a whole depict patriarchy, showing what still might be, but certainly what was, for some women. Turning wounds into wisdom.
